Hi I'm Brendon

I'm from American Fork Utah. I like football and being outdoors. Right now I'm a missionary in the Texas Houston East Mission.

About Me

I like to be outdoors. I have lived near the mountains for most of my life. I love to go camping and fishing. I love to read and play football. My favorite thing to do is chill with my two brothers. I'm from a family of seven. I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and right now I am serving a mission in the Texas Houston East Mission speaking Spanish.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have received a witness that this is the true church. I was born and raised in it, but that has made it no less important for me to gain my own testimony that it is true. I have prayed to know if the Book of Mormon is the word of God and if this church is his church and I felt the Holy Ghost tell me that yeah it is. I know that Heavenly Father knows who I am. Though I am not perfect, he is always there to help me out when I need it. This church has helped me out so much and I know that it can make a huge difference in the lives of all who choose to be a part of it.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing all that has been asked of me by my Heavenly Father. My life is about serving others and I am learning to see them the way Christ sees them. I have been called to serve a mission in the Houston East Mission and will be dedicating two years of my life to preaching the gospel. God has always helped me to do whatever he has asked of me.

What do Mormons believe about family?

We believe that a family is essential to God's Plan of Happiness. Families are supposed to help us to learn. They are a very important part of our church. We came down to this earth to be a part of a family. We believe that families can be together forever if they are sealed in the temple. I know that this is true. Heaven would not be heaven without my family there with me. Show more Show less

Who was Joseph Smith?

Joseph Smith was young boy living in Palmyra New York in the early 1800s. When he was a teenager, a lot of different churches were trying to get him to convert. He wasn't sure which one to join and so after he read James 1:5 he went into the Sacred Grove near his home and he knelt down to ask God which Church was true. As soon as he started, he felt a dark power come over him and he felt that he was doomed to destruction as the devil tried to get him to stop. He continued to pray and the power left him as Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to him. He says that they shone above the brightness of the son. He asked which church he should join and they told him that he was to join none of them. This began his ministry as a prophet of the Lord. He translated the Book of Mormon which is an ancient record of the Native Americans and Jesus Christ's appearance to them. He then began the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints which is the same church that Christ established. He did this under the direction of Jesus Christ and using the Holy Priesthood. In the end, Joseph died a martyr as mobs killed him in Carthage Jail. The church continued on as the keys of the Priesthood were passed on to Brigham Young and now they are with Thomas S. Monson who is the prophet and leader of our church today. Show more Show less

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

I see God's presence in my life everyday. Whenever I have felt alone, I am still able to feel him. He doesn't just show himself to us because that would make it too easy, and we would never come to have a deep relationship with him. By letting us reach out to Christ, we are able to come to know that he is our savior. We are able to understand that he loves us, he wants the best for us, and it gives us a desire to let him into our lives. I know that he lives. I know that he loves me and the rest of the world. I know that we are literally spiritual sons and daughters of God. He cares for us just as much as any father cares for his child. He wants to bring us happiness. What we have to do is do his will and reach out to him. Show more Show less
