Hi I'm Solana

I grew up in BC, Canada. I'm half Latina, love to play sports, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the middle child in my family with 2 brothers and 2 sisters. My siblings have become my best friends and I wouldn't replace them for anything in the world! Growing up I would play soccer in the summer, and snowboard in the winter. I have played piano since I was little and love playing the church hymns and feeling the Spirit through music. I currently live in Southern Alberta and am preparing to serve in the Mexico Hermosillo mission!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised with this amazing gospel and it didn't come until I was a youth where I have learned to appreciate it. Growing up I leaned more on my parents testimonies and sometimes wondered if I had one. I knew I had to figure out the truth for myself. I read my scriptures and prayed to know if the church was true and felt the love of my Heavenly Father and the Spirit tell me in my heart it is true. I have had many answers to my prayers and witnessed many things that have proven to me this church is true and it's where I belong. I know my Heavenly Father loves me, he sent his only begotten son to this Earth to die for our sins. We are his children and he knows each and everyone of us by name, he wants all his children to return back to live with him. He helps us, nurtures us, hears our cries in times of trial, holds us, mourns with us, and, most importantly, He loves us. Through the gospel we can be sealed to our families for time and for all eternity. I don't know anyone who doesn't want to be with the people they love forever. What a comforting thing it is to know that even after we pass away we can be together forever. I've experienced many trials and more to come but I know as I turn to the Lord and put my faith in him I won't face them alone. Our Saviour knows us better than we know ourselves. He has felt our pain and sorrows. Through him we can be healed when we exercise the Atonement in our lives. No one is perfect, we all make mistakes. But we can be perfect in him as we constantly strive to repent and follow him.

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday by being obedient to the commandments and by example. When we keep the commandments it brings happiness and joy in our lives. Our loving Heavenly Father has given us the commandments so we can be safe and protected from sin and regret. When we obey and are constantly striving to live the gospel to the fullest we will be blessed and be happier in life and people can notice. Sometimes it can be hard to stand up for what I believe in but in the end I know its right and the only way to return to Heavenly Father. It is all so worth it in the eternal perspective. This is one of the reasons why I want to serve a mission. To share this happiness and help others so they can receive these blessings. As said in the Young Women's Theme, "We will stand as a witness of God, at all times, in all things, and all places."
