Hi I'm Joshua

I'm an aspiring multi-instrumentalist and songwriter. I'm a home-body who spends too much time on Youtube. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the youngest of three brothers. I'm more of the quiet, introverted type, and I like taking time to slow down and relax. I prefer not to talk very much, unless it's about Chevelle (the band), Starcraft, Batman, or Dragon Ball Z. I also enjoy listening to, playing, and writing music. I've been in many different bands, from school to my friend's garage; I can play the piano, trombone/bass trombone, bass guitar, drums, a little acoustic guitar, and even the didgeridoo. I get really nervous when it comes to performing, but I love making the music. I can be a bit of a perfectionist about certain things, but I try to be patient with myself and realize that I'm only human.

Why I am a Mormon

I've been born and raised in the Church; I was baptized at age 8 and have been going to church for as long as I can remember. After awhile, I started questioning why we were going, why I was a member, and why it all mattered. I really didn't have much of an understanding of the gospel or the scriptures, or of the Church, really; I just always went along with what was said. But as I came closer to the end of high school, the expectation of serving a two-year mission helped me to understand that I needed to figure it out. And at first, when I left home, I still wasn't sure. I still felt like I didn't know very much at all. And it was hard; definitely a leap of faith. But, now that I've learned and grown and taken that leap of faith, I know why I'm a member of this church. I'm a Mormon because I know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, our Savior and Redeemer. God is our perfect Heavenly Father who loves each and every one of us, His children, and allowed us to experience life here on Earth so that we may gain knowledge and experience and someday return to live with Him. I know that families are eternal and that we will all see our loved ones again. I also know that Christ's gospel has been restored in it's fullness through the prophet Joseph Smith, and that the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. And I know these things because I've wondered and asked God about them, and I've felt the Holy Ghost testify to me that they are true.

How I live my faith

I've lived my faith in my church by holding leadership positions in youth groups, setting up group activities, leading service projects, teaching spiritual lessons and giving talks in church meetings. I have gone to early morning seminary, or scripture study, every day of my four years in high school. I have been a home teacher for several families over the years, whom my companion and I visited once a month to offer spiritual thoughts and any service that we could provide. Now I'm serving a mission for two years, working full-time to teach others about the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. It's definitely not easy; but I know that it has helped me grow so much, and understand our Heavenly Father and our Savior so much more; I know that this gospel is true.
