Hi I'm Scott

I grew up on the Connecticut shoreline. I'm a drummer, a writer and love to travel. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised in the forested suburbs of Connecticut where I grew to love nature and exploring the woods in my spare time. I am now living out in Utah which is different but not completely since my family has long ancestry in the LDS church. We would travel west usually once a year to visit family. Sometimes I felt isolated living in an area where there was hardly any Mormons but it has given me an appreciation of other beliefs and cultures. I am the youngest of nine children. I am so thankful for them. I would not be the person I am without them. I have a wide variety of interests including music, drumming, writing, traveling, road trips, sports, dancing, movies, learning, etc.

Why I am a Mormon

As I said before I grew up in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and most of my preceding family as well. From a young age I grew to love The Book of Mormon and the other LDS scriptures. God has blessed me to know his power and love through his Holy Spirit. Even with these strong experiences growing up there came a time where my faith was tested. In my teenage years I discovered I had bipolar disorder and later in life I developed addictions. These challenges have been some of the toughest in my life. There have been times when things were so black I didn't know if I was going to come out alive. For some years I didn't go to any church. I eventually realized that deep inside of me I still knew that God was real and that Jesus died for my sins. Knowing this has turned my life around. If it wasn't for the atonement and salvation of Christ I don't know where I'd be. From personal experience I know that he can cleanse us and change our character that no amount of will power or personal desire to be good can do. I am happy to be alive in these tumultuous and exciting times to help and try to make the world a better place.

How I live my faith

I try to rely daily on God since I know that my own efforts living life usually don't get me too far. Approaching him in prayer and searching the scriptures always brings peace and broadened understanding in my choices that I make. Being involved in good activities like helping family/friends, attending church, service projects, and spending time with people I love are the things that bring me the most happiness.
