Hi I'm Jesse

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have come to know this Church is HIS church.

About Me

I am now a "senior citizen", but still love to do things with young people. I love taking my grandkids fishing. I also enjoy shopping (usually with my 'special needs' son); I guess that's my 'feminine side'. I am a life-long Latter-day Saint, though I was nearly 20 years old before I found out for sure that Jesus himself leads this Church. I had never stopped to just ask, but on that occasion when I did, the answer was immediate. Heavenly Father was ready to answer as soon as I was ready to listen. Since then, I've tried to share my 'gifts' wherever I can. I am a 40+ year scouter, a veteran (Navy), and have volunteered for many good causes. This is because I really do know that we are all children of the same Heavenly Father.

Why I am a Mormon

Truthfully, I don't like referring to myself as a "mormon". I tell people, "Mormon was a prophet. I am nowhere near that good a person; I'm just a saint." Yes I get funny looks from that, but according to the New Testament, a 'saint' is someone trying to follow Christ's teachings. I still make way too many mistakes in my life, but I really am trying to follow Christ. And that is why I am a member of this church. I have never found another that meets the requirements the Lord himself established for a church to be His. Beyond that, however, I have asked in prayer if this church is His authorized organization, and the Holy Ghost has made it clear to me that it truly is; and no other has His permission to represent Him. His authority is only to be found in one church, and this is the one. That is all I need to be a member of this church.

How I live my faith

I currently serve as the Committee Chairman for the Boy Scout troop our local church unit sponsors. I have enjoyed working with the scouts for many years. Having 4 sons has given me quite a 'vested interest' in the program's values and teachings. I also serve my priesthood quorum as instructor the second Sunday of each month. Studying for these lessons really helps cement my testimony, as the Holy Ghost is an absolute necessity when sharing these kinds of thoughts and teachings.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

The Bible contains true and eternal doctrine. It is God's word as told to His prophets. It carries with it to the prayerful soul, the power to understand His purposes for us, His children. An honest study of the principles it teaches will surely bring us closer to our Eternal Father in Heaven. Show more Show less
