Hi I'm Abner

I play the piano. I love tennis. I love my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a graduate of high school and I love my family and learning. I love music and have played and taught the piano for a few years now. I also play the guitar and love writing and arranging songs! Along with music, my favorite sport is tennis. I played tennis for 4 years in high school. I love to sing and have participated in 'a cappella' groups and choir at school. I also love to laugh with improv theater and perform comedy shows. I am attending college in 2 years and in the meantime I'm going to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it makes me truly happy. I know that my Heavenly Father lives and that He is my Father. He loves me. So much so that He sent His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to suffer and die for me that I may return to live with Him again. I know He wants all of His children to return home to live with Him again. I know Jesus Christ is my Savior and I love Him. He is our Example in all aspects of life. He allows us to return to Father in Heaven. I know He suffered for me, so much so that He bled from every pore. And through all of His suffering, it allows us to be clean from sin and return to Heavenly Father's presence. I know The Book of Mormon is the word of God. It is true. I know everyone can know this truth as well, all you have to do is ask God with faith and a desire to know and act, and He will tell you. I love that promise! I know Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that we have a living prophet on the earth today who tells us exactly what Christ would if He were here. I am a Mormon because I know all of this is true and I have seen the blessings of a happy life and happy family life from following The Lord's teachings. I love being a Mormon and know everyone who wants to have a happy life and follow The Savior, can start by learning about this Church and The Book of Mormon!

How I live my faith

I live my faith, first and foremost, in my family. I am a son and brother, and I love my family with all my heart. We read from the scriptures together every night and pray as a family and individually as well. I am striving to become closer to my Father in Heaven by learning to love and cherish my family more every day. I also live my faith by serving in the ward I am in. As a youth, I have had responsibilities to uplift and bless the lives of those around me. Whether in youth activities or in visits to those who are home bound, I strive to follow Jesus Christ by loving others. I am grateful for the opportunities I have had to serve and look forward to being able to serve The Lord for 2 years as a full time missionary!

What are Mormon Temples used for?

Temple building is an important and defining feature of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is in temples that we worship The Lord and are able to receive peace and guidance to the many trials of life. Much of this peace comes from knowing we are obeying The Lord when we enter the temple and participating in sacred ordinances there. These ordinances are there to help us make covenants, or promises with God to obey Him and help others. It is here that we believe that a man and a woman can be sealed for time and all eternity, giving them the ability to live together forever with God. Temples are also used to provide the opportunity for those who have passed away, the same blessings. It is at the temple that those who are worthy, may participate in these ordinances and covenants for their relatives who did not have them done or have the opportunity to hear about The Gospel before they passed away. They then have the opportunity to accept the work that was done in their behalf which enables them to live with God again. Show more Show less
