Hi I'm Eric Shane Derbidge

I am a convert of Six years, a missionary currently serving in the Texas Houston Mission, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Eric Derbidge i am a convert of six years. my dads side of the family fell away from the church when he was little and my moms side never really was involved in the LDS church. i was baptized when i was 13 in the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to the Fredonia Arizona Ward. I went to Northern Arizona University in flagstaff arizona for a year, and have decided to serve a mission with the LDS church. I am currently called to serve in the Houston Texas Mission. I have only one sibling who is currently serving his mission in Mesa Arizona. My parents have always been supportive in my life to any pursuits that i put my heart and mind behind. My father was the only member of the church, but he fell away and was inactive for 29 years. he invited me and my brother to join him in going back to church and we joined him. even though my mom was not a member and didnt understand she supported my brother and me in our pursuits of the church and a mission. recently i have been able to baptize both her and my grandmother this past year. I love doing outside activities, outside sports and many other things related to outside. I love to share my testimony and help others in any situation that is thrown my way. I love family and family related activites. my passion is life, bettering myself and my belief is that you can only become better if you put your mind to it.

Why I am a Mormon

I know without a doubt that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints is a true church of God, that it is lead and guided by prophets, seers, and revelators today. i know that it has brought me closer to God faster, and truer than any other church i have had the privileged of investigating. i haven't really known any other than the Mormon Church, but i know it to be true. My family is kind of unique my father was an inactive and my mother wasn't a member. i was able to join the church when i was 13 and have since then been able to find out for myself if this church was true. my parents never forced me to go to church, or to pursue anything in my life that i did not want to pursue. i am grateful for that for it has led me to know for myself the truth of its gospel. since then i have been able to see the blessings that the church has brought into my life and recently this past year in January, and February was able to baptize both my mother and my grandmother. the blessings i have seen in my life since then 6 years ago is astounding. the joy that it has brought my family. i also stick with it for my family has always been family coordinated and determined to work as a family unit and since joining the church it has not only strengthened us individually, but as a family unit.

How I live my faith

I have had a few church callings in the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. as a youth i was a deacons quorum president. as a priest i was called to serve as a stake youth representative. later in my years as i went off to college i was called to be a Young Single Adult coordinator along with a few other members to coordinate young single adult activities. I was called to Home teach 15 diffrent sisters and was called as a district Home Teacher. I have always put my heart into the church and after praying about something if i have found it to be true i stick to it. I have always striven to be like Christ and follow his example. I listen to my heart and always follow the prompting of the holy ghost, if there is one thing i know true in my life it is the church, and the holy ghost for he has never left me alone. I have a recent calling as a missionary for the LDS church to serve and labor in the Houston Texas mission. i hope to bless the lives of others as i strive to bring christ unto their lifes, and the blessings that the church can bring into their lives, for it truly has blessed mine.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Eric Shane Derbidge
The Book of Mormon is another Testament of Jesus Christ. a given wittness from the people of the ancient americas, about the Lord Jesus Christ. it is a record of scripture that testifies hand in hand with the bible to authenticate and give witness with the bible of Christ Jesus. The Book of Mormon was trusted in the care of Gods called Prophet Joseph Smith in the early 1800's. Joseph Smith through the power of God and Priesthood power (the authorization and power to act in the place of God to build and strengthen the church of Jesus Christ and the kingdom of God) was given charge to translate the record. With that power given him of God, Joseph Smith translated from ancient records and plates the Book of Mormon. It is a record abridged and collectivelly put together by an ancient Prophet and Historian Mormon. it is a record and dealings of the anicent inhabitants of the Americas. Those who read, ponder, and pray about the Book of Mormon, can through the Holy ghost can recieve a witness of themselves of the truth and divinity of the Book of Mormon. those who sincerely ask, with a willing heart, and a contrite spirit, can recieve this answer from the Lord through his Holy spirit.
