Hi I'm Rachel

I'm serving in the Germany Berlin Mission. I have 15 brothers and sisters. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a sister, daughter, student, and friend. My family stands at the center of my life. They and the gospel are everything to me. I have a total of 15 siblings ranging in age from 7 months to 23 years. I have 2 biological ("blood") sisters and 2 biological brothers, 1 of whom has been called to serve his mission in heaven. I have an adopted sister who has Spina Bifida and cannot use her legs, and my family has adopted 7 children from Haiti. Most recently, we welcomed two precious twin boys into our family. Everything I have accomplished in life, whether great or small, has been because of the love and support of my family. I recently graduated with my Associate's degree in Drafting and Design Technology. After my mission I hope to earn a degree in architecture and pursue a career in desinging homes. I love to sing! I enjoy reading, and I love to learn. In high school, I participated in my school's Academic Team and Science Bowl Club, and competed in numerous regional and state competitions, as well as a couple of national tournaments. I love spending time in nature, especially with a camera and a good friend. I love life and everything that it brings my way.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that my Heavenly Father loves me. He knows me, personally. He knows my strengths and my weaknesses. He knows because He made me, exactly the way I am, for a very specific reason. He knows what I need to grow and succeed in whatever I need to accomplish. Each of my strengths and weaknesses is a gift from Him that defines who I am and gives me the power to become who I can be. He knows my trials and my triumphs. Each of us has times in our lives when we feel scared, or helpless, or alone. But the Lord is always with us. He will never, ever desert us. When the burden becomes to much for us to bear, he lifts it from our shoulders and places it upon his own back. When we don't have the strength to carry on, He carries us. Sometimes he calms the seas; sometimes he lets the storm rage and steadies the ship. Then, when the tempest is over and the sun is shining again, he rejoices with us. I know that through the hard times and the joyful ones, he is always with me. He is with me because he loves me. That's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I am a full-time missionary for the LDS Church, and am serving in the Germany Berlin mission. I am so excited to spend the next 18 months coming to know and love the poeple of Germany as I help them to feel the love of their Heavenly Father and see the influence of his Spirit in their lives. I look forward to the blessings and the challenges that lay ahead and the learning and growing I know they will bring as I strive to serve the Lord with all my heart, might, mind, and strength. As a young, unmarried adult I had the opportunity before beginning my mission to serve in a congregation specifically for single mormons between the ages of 18 and 31. I served for several months as a leader for the women's organization, where I prepared lessons for classes, planned activities, participated in events, and more. I loved being a part of this group because we spent a lot of time together, and it truly feels like a second family to me.
