Hi I'm Derek

I love to sing. I am a distance runner. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I recently graduated from High School, and I am now preparing to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to Seoul, Korea. I love to run and exercise, as well as sing and play music. I love learning and enjoy school thoroughly. I plan to attend college after the completion of my mission. I would like to go into the Health field, and I have interest in Nutrition and Dietetics as well as Personal Training.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of this church because I have found that living its teachings is the best way to be happy here on Earth. I have experienced living outside the teachings of the church, and I am a much happier person now that I follow the Savior's example and try my best to live according to God's commandments. The spirit of comfort and truth I feel when I attend church meetings or read my scriptures is an undeniable witness to me that this is God's true church here on Earth. Another reason, and one that is more powerful for me, is that I love my Father in Heaven and His Son, Jesus Christ, and I want to serve them with all my heart. Since I know for myself that the truth that I possess can bless the lives of all of God's Children, I want to share the Gospel "in word, conversation, charity, faith, and spirit."

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being an example to my peers. I always try to live like that Savior would, and while I am nowhere near perfect yet, I am becoming a better person because of my efforts.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Derek
I think that families are so important to the LDS church because our whole point in coming to the Earth is to be ready and worthy to come back to God and be part of His family again. He sent us here to see if we would follow Jesus Christ, His Son, and has told us in scripture and through Prophets that He wants to give us everything He has. This includes an eternal family. We are placed here on Earth in a family unit so that we can have a solid group who loves and cares about us and teaches us how to live here on Earth. But our families have the potential to be so much more! They can be with us forever! All that we need to do is follow the Savior, Jesus Christ, join His church, and try a little bit more every day to become more perfect like He is. We will not reach the standard of "Perfection" while we are here on Earth, but if we show God that we and our families are willing to try with our best effort to reach it, He will bless us to be able to become eternal, forever families.
