Hi I'm Timothy Gow

I grew up in Aberdeen Washington, I enjoy music and play over 10 musical instruments. I am a student, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student obsessed with learning. There is no subject that I am not interested in. I love music and can play almost any instrument that I pick up. I enjoy athletics and love to read, play computer games, and watch movies. My favorite outdoor activities are hiking, backpacking, biking, and Ultimate Frisbee. I'm 19 years old and I'm willing to try anything (as long as it is something good). I am currently about to set off for an LDS mission in Culiacan Mexico where I will be speaking the Spanish language and will serve for a period of two years. I depart January 22, 2014.

Why I am a Mormon

Well I was born to a family that were already Mormon and so I did not really know any different from then on. I became a member of the church when I was 8 years of age and again I did not really understand the church at all, but I let the members that surrounded me bring me to church and all of its extensions. For 8 years after my baptism I believed in the teachings of the Mormon church based off of other Mormons and did not know for myself. When I was 16 I found myself alone and being absent of others I knelt down on my knees and prayed unto God the eternal father and I asked of the truthfulness of the church. I received no visions of glory, defining voice(s) of any deity, or any spectacular signs of confirmation but an understanding of the church and its truth. I had a great and powerful feeling come over me and no sooner did I understand that it was the spirit of god. Silently confirming the truthfulness of the gospel unto me. This I know to be true and always will know, amen.

How I live my faith

Well similar to many other Mormons, I attend the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS) Church on Sundays, I participate in ward activities, I am still a youth so I still attend youth activities: such as dances, Wednesday activity, and many other Mormon youth gatherings. But, I am moving up to the young single adult (YSA) field, which is a group of young unmarried individuals that meet and have activities weekly. I love the LDS church (Mormon church if you prefer this name), I read the Scriptures daily (Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine of Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price), pray daily, and seek to help my fellow man when given the opportunity. My favorite Scripture is ST Matthew chapter 5: verse 48 which reads "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." As children of god we are commanded to be perfect even as Christ. This scripture to me does not mean to be perfect, but means perfect in loving even as our Father in heaven is perfect in loving. I have a testimony of the LDS church, I believe in the atonement of Christ and the restoration of the gospel, I know that Christ loves me and that he lives, I know that Christ, the eternal father, and the holy ghost are separate but are one in purpose, and I know that my father in heaven loves me and wants me to return to live with him just as he loves all of his children, amen.
