Hi I'm Rane

I was a three sport athlete in high school. I come from a large family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Ever since I was a little child, I have had a huge love for sports. In my childhood I started out playing soccer basketball and baseball, but while I was in high school I started playing volleyball instead of baseball. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity in high school to eventually be able to play for 3 varsity teams by my senior year. I have never been the best athlete on the field or court, but through hard work and working on my game I always found a way to help my team to win. In addition to excelling in athletics, I have always done reasonably well in my school work. School has not always been easy, especially once I started college, but I have found that if I put in the proper amount of work into my studies that I can do well in school. I come from a decently sized family; I have four brothers and one sister. In total, that makes 8 of us including my parents. Just like all big families, sometimes things can get a little crazy or hectic, but things never get boring. I'll take craziness over being bored any day.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of how much happiness this gospel has given me and my family. Although I was born in the church, you are never born with a testimony, so all while I was growing up I never actually knew that the church was true, I only knew that this church is what my parents did. When I got to be about 14 or 15, I had a sunday school teacher who challenged everyone in our class to start reading the Book of Mormon everyday. At first I was hesitant to start reading because I found it boring and difficult to do everyday, but as I persisted the reading became easier. But more importantly, as I started to get into the habit of reading the Book of Mormon everyday, I started to get this warm, glowing feeling in my heart telling me that God was proud of me and was glad with what I was doing at that moment in time. I feel like I felt the spirit for the first time in my life really strongly and by my actions. Since then I have known that the Book of Mormon was true, and as a result I gained a testimony of the Book of Mormon, but also of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the prophet who is now Thomas S. Monson, and that Joseph Smith was a true prophet and restored the church of Jesus Christ into the latter days. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by regularly going to church every sunday. I honestly can't remember the last time I skipped going to church. I also read my scriptures everyday because of the warm feeling I get within my heart every time I open up the scriptures and start reading because I know that is what the Lord wants me to be doing. Being a part of my church's congregation, I have been responsible for a number of different things since I have been a member. One of the things I used to do is that I would lead a group of teenage boys in serving the people in my ward, usually older people or single women who might need help doing something around the house that they couldn't do by themselves, like doing yard work or helping paint a house, or other various projects.
