Hi I'm Glenette

I am a Mormon. I live in Ammon. I have been a Mormon my whole life. I love the gospel.

About Me

I am 46 years old. I work at an elementary school. I am a teaching assistant and work with children who are emotionally disturbed. I started back to college 3 years ago. I hope to be a special education teacher soon. I work full time and go to school part time online. I have four children who are grown. They each have served missions. Our youngest son is serving a mission in Milan, Italy. I love working with youth. I have served in the primary and young women. I love to camp, cook in dutch ovens, garden when I have time and jog. I love teaching the youth the gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because my parents were Mormon. I grew up in the church my parents taught me about the gospel. For a long time I went to church because my parents did. As I grew older I had to decide for myself if I believed the things I had learned about the church. Slowly over a lifetime I have gain a strong testimony of the principle of the gospel. As trials have come in my life I have tested the truths I knew about the gospel. Each life experience has helped me to realize much I need the gospel in my life. I remember the first time I realized how much our Father in Heaven loves us. I was 14 years old and had gone on a hike with the other young women in our stake. We hike a very long hard hike near the Tetons in Idaho. When we got to the top the view was breathtaking. We sang "How Great Thou Art" part of the song says when through the woods and forest glades I wonder, and hear the birds sing sweetly in the tree, I knew then looking out over God's creation how much he loved me. He created this beautiful world for us, His children. I have had a couple of serious illnesses that have put me in the hospital. The power of the priesthood has helped me heal. I know the power to heal like the savior did is real and on the earth today. It is the power of the priesthood. I have made mistakes and felt the love of the savior as I have repented of those mistakes. He is the way to peace and forgiveness. I have also felt his love when I need comfort to forgive others. I has one person in my life who continually hurt me. This person would say and do things that made me feel like I was worthless. A close friend helped me realize that Jesus Christ has felt all of our pains and suffered for them. I was able to pray to him for comfort when I felt hurt. I felt the sweet love of my savior when I prayed. I love the gospel and the peace it brings me.

How I live my faith

I try to live the gospel by following Christ's example. Christ loved unconditionally. At work I work with some of the hardest students in the school district. They have a lot of anger issues and often fight, swear, refuse to work. I try to treat these students the way Christ would. I talk to them and love them even when they are rude and disrespectful. I feel like they need to know there are good people in the world. At church I work with the youth. I help plan summer camp for the girls. We spend a week in the mountains learning about the gospel. We learn life skills like cooking, first aid, and we develop life long friendships. I love sharing the gospel with the youth in a setting that is so beautiful. When I am in nature I feel my Heavenly Father's love. I also help teach adult who have fallen away from the church and want to come back. We have gospel lessons in our home. I learn more and more about Christ and my Heavenly Father each time I teach about them. I know that through Jesus Christ we can be forgive for the mistakes we make. He is the way to return to our Heavenly Father again.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Glenette
A testimony is when the Holy Ghost lets me know what I have studied or experience is true and come from my Heavenly Father. I feel the Holy Ghost as a warm feeling in my chest. When I get that warm conformation it often brings tears of joy to me. Sometimes I just feel at peace a comforted like, oh yea, I knew that. The spirit lets me know my thoughts about the savior, my Heavenly Father, and the prophet are true. I gained a testimony of the prophet Thomas S. Monson by listening to his teachings. When I hear him speak the things he teaches bring me peace and I know they are true. I gained a testimony of the prophet Joseph Smith by reading his history and the Book of Mormon. I know he prayed and saw God the Father an Jesus Christ. I know that through him the gospel was restored to the earth. I gained a testimony of the Book of Mormon by reading it, putting it's teachings into practice in my life. Moroni 10:7 says to ask God if these things are not true. When I pray to know the truth I feel peace and comfort and know this book is true. It is my the power of the Holy Ghost I know these things are true. I have a testimony the Jesus Christ paid the price for our sins and is risen from the dead. I know this because I have turn my mistakes over to him and he has comforted me. I have felt his love for me. I know he lives. Show more Show less
