Hi I'm Michael

I'm from Denver, Colorado, USA. I'm a software engineer and a ski instructor. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have a degree in Civil Engineering but now I work as a software engineer developing groundwater modeling software. The software I create helps people all over the world find clean, sustainable water supplies. In the winter I work part time as a ski instructor. I am married and have four kids. I like to spend time with my family, ski, hike, canoe, raft, backpack, bike, scuba dive, read, sing, play guitar, and plant trees.

Why I am a Mormon

One reason I'm a Mormon is because I see how much good the church does for its members - by helping individuals and families be better Christians - kinder, happier, more loving, less judgmental, more interested in serving others. The church also does a tremendous amount of good for those outside the church who are in need, through many humanitarian efforts that bring food, medicine, clothes, water and shelter to those that need it. I'm also a Mormon because I have felt the Holy Spirit as I've studied the scriptures and as I've prayed.

How I live my faith

I work with some of the young men in our church who are 16 to 19 years old. Every week we have an activity that helps them demonstrate leadership or learn about a career or is simply something fun to do. We just certified in scuba diving and we are planning a trip to San Diego to do a real dive in the ocean. We also just did an amazing canyoneering adventure through Blue John Canyon in southern Utah which required some technical stemming skills. Our guide was an expert canyoneering guide book author. Working with the youth is fun for me and I think it helps them to be better people.
