Hi I'm Ken

I live in utah. Grew up in the church. My wife and I have 8 wonderful children in a blended family.

About Me

My wife and I have 8 children in a blended family. We both work in healthcare full time. We love motorcycle riding, exercise and fitness but most of our time is centered around our family. It's been tough blending our family but we've been blessed with wise counsel from my dad, professional counsellors and church leaders on how to be unified and keep the spirit in our home and in our relationships.

Why I am a Mormon

I wasn't a bad kid. I was mostly an unmotivated kid. I had some pretty bad depression in high school and often questioned my self worth. My parents didn't know but I felt very alone all the time. I joined the army at 17. Split option for basic training- done between my junior and senior years in high school. I started pulling out of my depression in my senior year after gaining some confidence but still didn't feel like I mattered much to anyone. In my advanced training, after high school, I started reading the Book of Mormon just to feel more at home and we weren't allowed reading material other than our studies and religious reading. I knew the basics of the stories but hadn't really read them before. Then, one night as I was reading, the Holy Ghost came upon me so strong that I felt like I would laugh and cry at the same time. The air seemed crisp like electricity and I knew immediately that not only was I known by my Heavenly Father and Savior but that they loved me and that the people I was reading about in the Book of Mormon were also real people He knew and loved. I knew the stories were true. The principles taught in the book were true and I wanted to jump up and tell everyone there what had just happened inside of me. I didn't do it though. Probably the fear of men kept me from it. I knew at that time though that I needed to go on a mission to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to whomever and wherever He would send me. I went on a mission to California and had some of the most wonderful faith building experiences of my life as I got to know my Savior and was able to share the joy of His gospel with the people we taught. The atonement of Jesus Christ saves lives. It saved mine. Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are real. They live and love us so much. I know they know me personally and are watching over me and care about me at all times. I am a Mormon because the Holy Spirit has borne witness to me that it is true. It's wonderfully true!

How I live my faith

I am a counsellor in our church group that helps teach and strengthen the men in our congregation. We visit families in our congregation, take a spiritual message to them and just talk about how they are doing and what needs they may have. We also have responsibilities in community service projects.
