Hi I'm Jacob Ferlo

I like sports, music, and I love my family. I'm serving a mission in Washington DC North Spanish-speaking. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently on a mission in Washington DC North speaking Spanish. I love the opportunity I have to share this wonderful knowledge with everyone I meet. I love to play and watch all kinds of sports. I have attended and will attend Brigham Young University, studying communications with a Public Relations emphasis. I love spending time with my family and friends, doing virtually anything as long as I am with those I love. I love music and the ability it has to inspire and move me. I am the middle of 3 boys. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ and I desire to share it with everyone I can.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to two Mormon parents, so I have been a member since I was baptized at age 8, the normal age for baptisms in our church. I have always believed in the church and its teachings, but ,like everyone else, I had to find out for myself if I truly knew what was being taught. I never had one solitary moment when I knew the church was true, but my testimony and knowledge of the gospel have grown as I continue to live the gospel and follow its teachings. Especially already on my mission. The gospel brings such joy to my life. One example is the plan of salvation. We believe in life after death and in the ability to see our loved ones again in a life to come. My grandma died almost 4 years ago when I was 15. This was very tough on me as I felt like I didn't know her well enough and hadn't had enough time with her. I wished I had been able to talk more with her and to be able to truly get to know this wonderful woman more. However, through the gospel I was able to feel peace despite the trial. I know that I will have a chance to see my grandma again, and this knowledge has helped me through that experience. The gospel brings peace in times of trials and humility in times of sin. The principle of repentance has allowed me to feel hope even though I slip up and sin almost everyday, as most of us humans do. The peace and comfort that come with living the gospel are unparalleled and cannot be felt anywhere else. I thank my Father in Heaven constantly for the blessing of being a member of this Church. And now I thank Him for the opportunity I have to share this knowledge on my mission.

How I live my faith

I attend church every Sunday and go to all three meetings involved with that. I enjoy learning more about the gospel and its principles. I try to read my scriptures and pray every day to always carry a spirit of gratitude to my Heavenly Father for all He does for me. I try to attend the temple once a week as I love the spirit and peace that can be found there. The temple is unlike any other building on Earth. There you can truly feel God's presence and know you are where you should be. I hold a temporary calling with the young men in my ward, helping out the leaders in whatever they need. I am currently serving a 2 year mission in Washington DC North. I have left family, friends, school and all things familiar to serve the Lord and the people of my area. This is a very hard thing to do, but the Lord has and will continue to bless me as I do this. I love the gospel and I feel so much joy come from it. I desire everyone to feel this joy and to know of Christ. Without this knowledge I would not be able to serve a mission. But Because of this knowledge I must serve a mission. I need to let everyone know the joy of this gospel.
