Hi I'm Esmeralda

I'm a student. I'm a daughter, a sister, a friend. I love the outdoors. I love making others smile. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love scenic photography. I love the outdoors, such as hiking, stargazing, camping and mountain bike riding. I embrace my culture through cooking and baking. I love my family. I'm the middle child of three, but I have a wonderful sister and a twin brother and the greatest mom. I'm currently studying to earn a Bachelor's in Psychology. I enjoy learning new things. I'm a fanatic of sports, but soccer is my number one. I have an extremely busy schedule, but I always squeeze things in to reach out and help others. Serving gives great meaning to my life and I'm able to see miracles happen.

Why I am a Mormon

I've been a member for four years. I was baptized in the summer of 2009. Accepting the gospel and continuing to follow it has been a great blessing. I now know who I am. I'm a daughter of God with infinite worth. Understanding this truth has changed my life. Before coming to know about the lds faith, I was a quiet girl, trying to find my way through this world. I always felt alone, for everyone was doing things I never dared to do. I felt like I did not belong anywhere, but everything changed. The Spirit of God testifies to me that all is true. The joy that I feel while attending church meetings and the temple are another testimony of the truthfulness of his church. Great things have emerged since I've been a member. I know my Savior lives. He died and is risen. When times are rough, I'm not alone. I know that the Lord is by my side. In our journey through life, he is walking every single step with us, but it is up to us to allow him to walk with us. He wants the best for us. He can see the bigger picture than we can, but trust in the Lord and everything will work out for the greater good. Believing on who I am and where I'm going gives me the strength to keep enduring through trials. I love the gospel. I'm thankful for the restoration of the gospel, prophets and missionary work. As I continue to learn and live the gospel, great joy and happiness fills my life.

How I live my faith

Each new day brings new opportunities to be better than the day before. I attend BYUI, but I still try to be an example to my roommates by reading my scriptures, making my prayers in the morning, before heading out to school and before going to bed. I try to emulate the example of Christ even by small things, such as smiling to people passing by as I walk to class. I'm always on the lookout for people who need an extra hand and I serve them in whatever way possible. Each day, I ask, "What would the Savior do?" or "Have I done any good in the world today?" If not, I try to be better and improve myself. Portraying happiness and joy is on the the best ways that I can demonstrate my faith, for happiness is contagious and if I'm happy I'm more likely to reach out even the most unexpected, but more importantly make someone's day.
