Hi I'm Hyrum

I am an electrician and help manage the construction of commercial projects. I'm proud to be an American and a Mormon.

About Me

I married a wonderful woman and we have five children who we consider our best friends. Our children and four grandchildren bring untold joy to us. I enjoy jogging and skiing with them, hunting and shooting with my sons and two grandsons, and having one-on-one conversations as we go on long walks together. When our children were growing up we took a family vacation at least once a year. We went camping, visited new places, visited relatives out of state, etc. We especially enjoy going to Lake Powell in Arizona and Arches National Park in Utah.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents both grew up in Germany as members of the Lutheran church. They read and believed in the Bible. When they heard that there were living prophets upon the earth again they investigated the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and found that the basic teachings that they had learned and believed as children were also taught in this church. The experiences of the prophets of the Old Testament and the stories and teachings of Jesus Christ in the New Testament were also taught. They learned that Jesus Christ had again appeared unto prophets in recent years and that the priesthood, as well as His Church, had been restored to the earth. They also found additional insight into things that are only briefly mentioned in the Bible. I have come to know for myself that Christ's church has been restored to the earth and that Christ loves us and cares about us and He communicates with living prophets today just as He did anciently as recorded in the Bible.

How I live my faith

When I graduated from high school, I served my country in the Air Force as an aircraft mechanic. I enjoyed this very much as I have been fascinated with airplanes since I was a young boy. It was fun for me to learn how they operated and what each of the parts did. I served as a missionary for two and a half years in southern Germany. During this time I became better acquainted with history which seemed very abstract when I was in high school. I learned to appreciate and respect the people and their culture. It surprised me that, almost without exception, they respected Americans because America had treated Germany so well after the war. It was a privilege to serve these people by sharing the wonderful message that Christ restored His Church to the earth. After graduating with a degree in electronics, I worked in the electronics manufacturing field for a number of years. I married a girl who grew up as a devout Catholic and had joined the Mormon Church when she was in college. I have served in many positions as a member of this church, wherein I have been able to help others to learn about Jesus Christ and His teachings. I enjoy studying His life and the things He taught that bring peace in this life amid the increasing turmoil in the world. I know that His teachings bring peace to my life and to others who believe in Him and learn to follow His example.
