Hi I'm Bonnie

I am a wife, mother, and grandmother. I am a recently retired school teacher. I loved being a teacher. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was born of goodly parents on a dairy farm in Idaho. Both my parents had served full time missions, They were faithful in living and teaching the gospel to their family. We were a family of 10, 4 boys and 4 girls. Our home though not full of materials goods was full of love. We were taught to work and to love learning. Nearly all of us graduated from college. Three of my brothers earned Phds and taught at universities. Two of my sisters taught school as I have done. My mother was a school teacher through many of my growing up years. She was a profound influence in my life. I met the love of my life in college. We have been married for 44 years. We have been blessed to be the parents of 3 sons and 3 daughters. We delight in our 16 grandchildren. Nothing is better than watching them play on our giant home made swingset in the backyard where our own children spent countless hours of fun. Since I have retired from teaching, I have spent many hours reading books and leading a book club sharing ideas with good friends. My husband and I also enjoy traveling this great land enjoying scenic drives. I especially enjoyed a trip to Mesa Verde a couple years ago. We love going to historic sites learning about the past. Life is good and my love of the Savior makes life worthwhile as I strive to live as He would have me live.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptised a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints when I was eight years old. I had been taught well about the step I was about to make and my mother told me to pray about it that I might receive my own testimony. I did and I was filled with the spirit of peace and well being. I knew then as I know now that this is the only path that I should follow that will lead me back to my Father in Heaven where I can be with my family for all eternity. Since that sincere prayer as an 8-year- old, I have had many other prayerful experiences that have confirmed for me that I am doing what the Lord would have me do. I have been blessed abundantly as I've strived to follow the precepts taught in the gospel. Through challenges there is the peace that can only come of the Savior. I have received blessings from the priesthood power and authority that was restored to the earth. The same priesthood that the Savior used. It is humbling to know that it can still be used in this day to bless me and my family. I feel so grateful to know the gospel of Jesus Christ is true and I know this by the power of the Holy Ghost. I so testify.

How I live my faith

My husband and I have recently been called on a mission to Texas and will be assigned to teach religion classes for our church to students on three college campuses. We will leave our home and friends for 18 months where we will make many new friends and serve the young people by teaching them the gospel of Jesus Christ. Before our call we served in a Young Single Adult ward near where we live. We loved these college students and enjoyed having them in our home often. We also joined with them in many activities from float trips down a local river to musical firesides. Their youth and vitality was refreshing to us.
