Hi I'm Heather

I love to hike, camp, read, play the piano and be with my friends and family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a typical Idaho girl. I love being outside. Hiking and exploring are two of my favorite activities. I also love helping out at my grandparents and being with my family. I love to play the piano and am attempting the learn the violin. I attended college for one year before deciding to serve an LDS mission. I absolutely loved all of the knowledge that I got while at the university, and can't wait to attend again when I get home from my mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, so for a long time I was living off of my parents faith. As I grew older little by little I came to know that my Heavenly Father loved me, and put his church here to help me get through life. When I entered my teenage years, I found myself asking my Heavenly Father for help more and more often. As I asked, help always came, and I knew that my Father in Heaven loved me. As my faith started to build, I found myself studying and praying more often. I read the Book of Mormon and found answers and guidance to so many questions. I also started really paying attention to what some of the modern day church leaders where teaching. As I studied and prayed and asked for His help, I would feel of his love. I started heavily relying on His help and guidance for everything and would always seek out the way He wanted me to go rather than what was easier for me or more fun. As I did this, I always found myself happier and closer to the Lord. I am still learning and trying to do the things that make me happy, and in the end, I always find myself turning to the Lord again. I know that my testimony and belief was built one piece at a time. I also know that my Heavenly Father and His son Jesus Christ love me and all of their children. They want us to be happy and succeed and have sent us everything we need to do so, if we will just take action. They love us so much and have sent Their church and scriptures to us in the later days. I know that I would not be where I am today without them.

How I live my faith

In our church the members are asked to give of their time and talents in what we call callings. I have had a few callings. Many of them seemed scary at first, but they have helped me grow in so many ways. Some of my callings involved music. I learned how to lead music and I had to play the piano for people to sing to. I was so scared to play the piano in front of people, but as I prayed to the Lord and practiced hard, my piano skills grew. I also had some callings that had to do with the youth in my ward. I really loved these callings. They helped me to learn how to organize activities and work with other people. However, I really enjoyed a much more important aspect of these callings. I got to help and watch out for people. I realized how special everyone was, and that I needed to treat everyone kindly. This has helped me to be less judgmental and more kind towards people. Serving in my church has really helped me grow. I not only gained skills to help in my church, but to better help in my community. If I have learned anything, I have learned that living my faith does not only require me to help out at church or when I am asked. Living my faith requires me to always be acting in a way that I can help others, and be an instrument in God's hands.
