Hi I'm Robert

I'm a newlywed, an avid runner, and I love to play nerdy board games. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Utah with my three sisters and a single mom. She did an outstanding job of rearing us in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and we are all still close today. One of my passions in life that I picked up in high school is running. Some of my best memories have been competing in track and cross-country. When I turned 19 I served a mission to Bulgaria which was an incredible experience. When I got back I ran for a couple more years at my university. After that, I joined the Army National Guard, and did ROTC. Now I am a recently married, recently graduated, and recently commissioned officer who is excited about what the future will bring.

Why I am a Mormon

As someone who has grown up in a Mormon family, I always believed the teachings from the Bible and the Book of Mormon. However, it wasn't until I was 14 years old that I really started gaining a testimony for myself that God truly hears and answers prayers, and that repentance and righteous living are the only ways to lead a happy life. This change in my life came during the hardest trial I had faced up to that point. Because of the Savior's support this trial became a great stepping stone for my growth. With this conversion, almost all aspects of my life changed. My grades shot up, I made better friends, and I was happy. While this was my initial conversion, I have realized that it is a constant battle to keep the light of Christ shining. I have found that I can fight it best with the simple weapons like praying daily to Heavenly Father, studying His word in the scriptures, and worshiping him at church. I still know that God hears and answers my prayers. Life is a challenge and I don't always feel like I am cut out for the task, but I have learned that when I live right, everything works out for the best. I am grateful for the tender mercies of the Savior and know that He is there for me and everybody.

How I live my faith

In my church ward, I serve as a cub scout leader along with my wife. We help organize weekly activities with the "bears" (nine year-old boys) to help them develop physically, socially, economically, environmentally, and even spiritually. It is a lot of fun to help mentor them in ways that allow them to have fun and make friends.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Robert
The Book of Mormon is an account of God's dealings with the ancient inhabitants that lived on the American continents. It's words testify that Jesus Christ is our Savior. It was written by ancient prophets from 600 BC to about 400 AD. The record was abridged on a set of golden plates and buried in a hill. As a young man, Joseph Smith was directed by an angel to the golden plates, and with the help of God, he translated them. They are filled with words that lead people to grow closer to God and to help them keep His commandments. There is a promise at the end of the Book of Mormon that explains that if a person reads and sincerely prays about whether the Book of Mormon is true, he/she will come to know that it is. If a person comes to know that the Book of Mormon is true, they will also know that Joseph Smith must have been a true prophet and that the church that he helped restore must by the true church.
