Hi I'm Ben

I study acoustics, I play lots of instruments, I recently got married to a sweet girl, and I'm Mormon!

About Me

I'm really into music. I play bass, ukulele, guitar, and a little bit of banjo, piano, mandolin, and anything else with strings. I'm in a band with my wife, she writes the music, I just help fill it all out. I'm also kind of a nerd. I'm studying physics, with an emphasis on acoustics (sound stuff). I currently do research for NASA!

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because of Jesus Christ. I know that He is my savior, and I know that He leads the mormon church. Most importantly, I know that because of Him, I can become "clean" from my sins. What this means to me is that even though I've made some huge mistakes in my life, I am still ok with God; He is willing to forgive me of my mistakes, and I am able to be clean. This brings me so much relief. Knowing that God loves me and forgives me of my sins is like having a weight lifted from my shoulders. Another reason I'm Mormon is because of the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon is a collection of scriptures (just like the Bible) that was written by prophets of the ancient Americas. I LOVE this book! I read the Book of Mormon the first time about six years ago, and it has changed my life. As I read it, I just felt in my heart that it was true. Not only did it feel right, but it made sense. This book teaches all about Christ, and about how to follow him. It by no means replaces the Bible, but instead gives us more examples of the teachings of Christ. And who doesn't want to know more about what Christ's life and teachings? Lastly, I'm Mormon because of my family. I love my parents and my brothers and sisters. I am also married to my sweetheart. As Mormons, we believe that families are a key part of God's plan, and that our families can be together not just in this life, but forever. It gives me so much comfort knowing that not even death can separate my family!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be the best person I can be. I want to live my life like Jesus Christ would (you know, WWJD). It's hard, mostly because I can be lazy and selfish, but that's where the church helps out. Going to church regularly helps me be the best ME I can be. At church we are taught about Jesus and his followers, and I find ways in which I can emulate Christ's life. Another thing I really like about the Mormon church is that I have responsibilities there. I always feel the best about something when I'm personally contributing to it, and that's how my time at church feels. I class once a month to other guys my age. Having this responsibility helps me to feel important, and helps me to help others. I definitely feel best about myself when I'm working towards helping others.

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

Ben
The Bible talks of Christ, and what written by his disciples and prophets. As such, the teachings in the Bible help us to be more like Christ, and when we are more like Him, we are happier, better people. Show more Show less
