Hi I'm David Harold Steele

I have served in government positions, taught high school and college, held a variety of church positions, and I am a mormon..

About Me

I have been so fortunate to have been taught, by example, from some of the most honest, hard working, caring, and loving people on earth. These individuals showed me the value of compassion, the strength that comes from hard work, and forgiveness that comes from the Savior's atonement. Many, many of my former students have gone on to make such positive contributions and established worthwhile lives and families. They are doctors, nurses, lawyers, teachers, community leaders, and serving people. I have been blessed working with such outstanding young people. My friends go the extra mile to help me and my family. I have enjoyed numerous meals, prayers. support, and help that I can't not try to repay others for the goodness given to me. I like to golf, fish, bike, walk, read, and watch tv. I enjoy teaching my Sunday School class now, and have enjoyed my professional and church service opportunities of the past. I have been a state senator, high school and college teacher, and adult education director.

Why I am a Mormon

Almost everything in life points to the reality of deity. As a mathematician I worked hard to learn to solve problems.....as man, husband, father, family and community member I have learned that God has a plan, and His plan is better than any plan I can come up with. I have experienced that wonderful feeling of "knowing" that comes from the Holy Ghost' testifying to my mind and heart about the truthfulness of His plan and the steps necessary for me to find happiness and eternal joy. The proofs I see in the gospel are so much profound and helpful than what I used and made in mathematics. I have studied other religions and appreciate and admire the goodness of so many people. But I can't ever deny what the Lord has written in my heart or on my mind's understanding as to why we are here and where we are going after this life. I have many short comings, but I also have hope through Jesus Christ, His life, His example, His teachings.

How I live my faith

I try to treat others with kindness and respect, but admit that I have a long way to go in this area. I have enjoyed working with others as a bishop and stake leader. I have relied on the Lord for direction time after time. Alone I really have limitations, but with His help, I have a guide and source for strength far beyond my own abilities. Like almost everyone I know, my family and extended family has dealt with heartbreak, tragedy, personal choices, and fear that could only be helped through the Lord, Jesus Christ. When asked how my family is, I respond, "Mortal". Life has taught me that God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ are real and have personal interest in each of us. I have really enjoyed the church videos that are teaching resources for classes and the home. The new Sunday School Curriculum for the youth is exciting and well constructed. I enjoy teaching gospel doctrine using technology and sharing teaching ideas with stake members.
