Hi I'm Sister Whitney Hymas

I grew up in West Valley City Utah and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have completed three semesters at BYU-Idaho. I am currently serving a mission in the North Carolina Raleigh Mission. I love to read and listen to uplifting, soothing music. I love to study the scriptures and learn the history.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church. I always believed what I was being taught mostly because it all made sense to me. When I was about 14 or 15, I finished the Book of Mormon for the first time. In the last part of the Book of Mormon, there is a verse that asks all who read it to pray about. Before I prayed about whether or not the book was true, I already knew. I was overcome with the Holy Ghost, or the Spirit of God. I felt warm and so happy, happier than I knew I could feel. It felt RIGHT. It was then that I knew without uncertainty that I was a daughter of a Heavenly Father and He loves me. I know He loves me and all His children. I was able to understand the meaning behind why Jesus Christ suffered for all the world. Being a part of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has brought me so much happiness and joy, words cannot do my feelings justice. It brings a great peace to my life. It gives me meaning and a purpose in this life. I have no doubt about the truthfulness of the gospel. I know my testimony came from reading and striving to follow the Book of Mormon and the teaching of Christ. I choose to follow Him and dedicate my life to His gospel.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as a missionary is the North Carolina Raleigh Mission. I love getting to share my testimony to others-- it is important to me and I want to share it. I love playing the piano, especially hymns. Although I am not the greatest, I find joy in simply playing and pondering the lyrics as I do. I also love to hear the testimonies of others. It is a chance to reflect on how everyone is different, yet all can come together in the same belief. I love to learn about the gospel and get into discussions in class. I often ponder my own insights as well about how the gospel has blessed and what I can do to become a better teacher for my own family someday.
