Hi I'm Patty

I was a single parent for 11 years and have had a wonderful life these past 50 years. I am a grateful Mormon.

About Me

In 2010 my husband passed away from diabetes. During my life I was a single parent for 11 years, went back to school, became a professional court reporter which occupation I worked at for 23 years. After retirement I volunteered in my community serving on the school board for 11 years. I have traveled over the world since my retirement. My membership in the church has taught me how to enjoy life along with my personal trials. I am currently serving a full time mission as a single sister. One of the best of life's experiences.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family that did not participate in church activities. I could see and feel the difference of families who actively participated in the church and had strong testimonies. I wanted what they had. As I embrace the Mormon faith, it gives me great blessings in being able to feel the joy and happiness that comes from living the teachings of the church. I have a testimony of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. It has been given to me "line upon line and precept upon precept." I LOVE the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the many, many opportunities it gives to me.

How I live my faith

I look for ways to serve in my community. I organized an after-school program of fun classes in my community for students from the ages of 5 to 14, teaching many of the classes myself or hiring teachers to provide the services to the students. This past year I was able to spend 10 weeks in China teaching ESL to Chinese students. I also spent three weeks in Thailand working at an elephant preserve caring for sick and injured elephants. I was able to visit with friends in Japan for two weeks as well. I love traveling and seeing all parts of this beautiful world. Over the years of church service I have taught adult religion classes. I have worked with teenagers in activities and gone to girl's camp for several years with the young women. I also served as activity director in our church for large and small groups. Lots of great activities and wonderful memories.
