Hi I'm Mat Hepworth

Too many depressed, and angry people in this world. I'm out to change that. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I love sports. I played Point Guard for my High School basketball team. I love music, and play the drums as a pastime. I love my family more then anything in the world, and I've been called to serve as a Missionary for The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints in the Oregon Portland Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because there is no other thing that can bring me the same happiness. Not even winning championships, or hitting game winning shots, both of which I've done. whether you like it or not, its true. I, like many other latter day saints was born into this church, and grew up on the coattails of my parents testimony. but there comes a point when someone else's testimony isn't strong enough to get you through your own trials, you have to find out for yourself. I'd be lying if I said I didn't waiver in my younger teenage years, but thanks to a faithful mother who spent hours on her knees for me, I found answers that I didn't even know I was looking for. I am a Mormon because it is the only church that has all the priesthood keys of God on the earth, it is his church. I'm not a member just because it teaches good things, or tells you how to be a "good person", while those are added bonuses, I do it because its taught me that this earth life is such a small part of our entire existence, and while I might be giving up some pleasures of my time on this earth, I'm working to have happiness and joy for FOREVER. I'll gladly give up some temporal "fun" for everlasting joy.

How I live my faith

I'm a missionary for the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints, I get to talk to people everyday about this gospel, and how it was restored to the earth through the Prophet Joseph Smith.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Mat Hepworth
Not at all. God has asked that every able bodied, worthy young man, volunteer 2 years of his life to preach his Gospel. By choosing not to do so, one will miss out on one of the greatest experiences of a lifetime, as well as the solidifying their testimony of this Gospel, but can still be a full fledged member of the Church. Women can serve as well, and are even encouraged too, but don't have the same duty too as the men do. They are encouraged to go to school and gain an education, and to look to start a family. The most important and sacred thing to our Heavenly Father. Show more Show less
