Hi I'm Shuki

Built tough in the Wasatch. Heading on a mission to Trujillo, Peru. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love being in the outdoors, weither it be skiing, mountain biking, rafting, kayaking, surfing, boating, fishing, hiking, backpacking, camping, etc. I love it all. I am the eldest of two. I am a college student, and just finished my first year at BYU. My short term goal right now is to go on my mission and finish with no regrets; and my long term goals are to become a surgeon, and find me a beautiful wife.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, and have had very wise and loving parents. Because of this I had never questioned the church and its beliefs. Many people talk about how they lived off of their parents faith and testimonies and then had to find out for themselves. In a sense, I suppose this happened to me as well, but not nearly to that degree. Because of the way that I had lived my life, and the way that my parents had raised me, I never questioned the church because I saw the great blessings and miracles that would wash over me and my family when we kept the commandments. Inorder to figure out if this is the true gospel, many, if not all, read the Book of Mormon, and then pray about it to receive confirmation of the surety of its words. I did this this past year, and the feeling I received was that I already knew, I have know my whole life. From past experiences I know, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that this is the true gospel. That God the Father, is in fact our Father, and he loves us. I know that Joseph Smith was a man of God, a prophet, and a vessel for the restored gospel to, once again, help and guide those on the Earth. I know that the promptings of the Holy Ghost are real, and that they are from the will of God. That there is a current and living prophet, Thomas S. Monson, and he receives modern day revelation. I know that there are miracles that occur today, for I have seen them with mine own eyes. I know that Christ lived on this Earth, and made the great scarifie to atone for the sins of this world. I know of the validity of this church, and I am so grateful for this knowledge. Because of this great gift that I have received, I wish to share it, for it would be selfish of me to keep such a pearl from those in need. This is why I will give two years of my life to my brethren in a different part of the world, for I love this gospel and the peace it brings me. This is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I love serving others, weither it be at home or abroad. I had the opportunity to go to India with a humanitarian group a little over a year ago, and that was a life changing experience. At home I help out at the VA Hospital, among other things, and I try to do an much as I can in the community. The opportunity that I have been given to go to Peru and serve those in Trujillo is such a blessing and I am very grateful.
