Hi I'm Carly Lortz

I'm the oldest of three and am currently serving a mission in Atlanta Georiga! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to play the piano, singing, play with kids and just be outdoors enjoying the fun activities you can only enjoy outside. I also enjoy laughing! One, because it helps you live longer; and two, it just makes the day worth living. Im the oldest daughter of three, and I currently graduated from high school. I have recently left and am on my mission and will be leaving in the following week to serve The Lord by helping bring back His sheep. I currently work as a daycare teacher and I watch over 25+ kids, ranging from 8-13. I enjoy the holidays to the umph degree. I always try to keep a positive attitude with life, even with hard times, only because there's no real purpose in hanging on to the stuff the drags us down.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I was blessed to be born into a loving family, a family who had a worthy priesthood holder and a caring, smart mother who, are strong in their faith and testimony to the gospel. I chose this religion when I was only 8 years old, by committing to become a member of the restored truth. I will admit at times I was confused as to what I was doing in my life that had to do with religion, but in the end, I was always reminded of the loving Savior's sacrifice for each of us. I know that he suffered for the sins of the world, and that he died an innocent man, sinless and perfect, in the regard that it would help us all return to our Heavenly Father if we chose to live righteously. I know that because our Heavenly Father loves us, that he restored the gospel back on the earth after hundreds of years of man remaining in the dark, unable to fully understand and accept the truth and light in their lives. I know that Joseph Smith Jr. is and was a true prophet and that through him, the gospel was restored. I know that we have a true and living prophet, President Thomas S. Monson, who loves each and everyone of us and helps us know what to do to return more worthily unto our loving Heavenly Father, who is always there for us, as long as we kneel unto him and ask with sincerity of heart. I know this is the true church, I wouldn't have joined if it weren't true. I know that this gospel brings light and life into my life. I would give anything for it.

How I live my faith

People have their own ways of showing faith, and living in Utah, it kinda feels like a competition to be "the best". Which, in saying that, is not the case. I find that when I follow the commandments and act in faith, things get done, and I have seen the blessings from it. As the scriptures say, "faith without works is dead." I truly believe this. I live my faith by acting or trying to act like Jesus would, and in my case, that's with an open mind. I find that throughout my years as a teenager, I would be called to serve as a leader for the girls my age and in doing my job that I was assigned, I was able to help girls build their faith. It helped my faith in that it showed me where I could serve The Lord and be the help he needed. Or as one of our prophets proclaimed, "be His hands." I visit some sweet women in my ward for visiting teaching and I love how I get to see them grow. I love getting to know more about them and helping them in small ways. I also live my faith by showing it in the words I say, the thoughts I think and the way I dress. I show The Lord that I am faithful when I dress modestly, proving that I respect the body He has given me. It shows that I respect His name when I don't take it in vain. The little things I do show my faith in a big way.
