Hi I'm Irene

I grew up in Concord, NH with a single mom and no siblings. An amazing man has kept me living in Utah after college.

About Me

I have a bachelor's degree in Print Journalism from Utah State Univ. and I love to write. Writing has been my way to take a time out from life since I was in junior high. Now I spend my days offering time outs in a kitchen chair with an egg timer as an accessory to three wonderful children while my husband works. I love time alone to think. I enjoy making jewelry and talking about politics with open minded people. Not usually at the same time! I am a mother, a wife, a friend, a neighbor, a leader, a cook, a coloring book enthusiast, and most of all I am a daughter of God.

Why I am a Mormon

While I was serving a church mission in Sendai Japan I said once to a leader, that my mother only joined this church and kept coming, because it made her happy. I told this leader that I had more faith than my mother because I understood the teachings and doctrine more than my mom. It wasn't just about being happy for me. I was raised LDS and therefore that made me stronger than her. Now almost ten years later I disagree with my self righteous attitude. I am a Mormon because it makes me happy and there is nothing wrong with that. I am happiest and safest when I am obeying the commandments of God. I have proof of this. That is all I need. I know whenever I ask, He hears me. He answers me. He saves me over and over. God has given me everything, literally, everything, and the only thing I can give back to Him, is my use of agency to follow Him. The Book of Mormon and Bible and the living prophet's words are all handed to us on a gold platter so to speak, and as we partake of, and test what they teach, our lives are filled with peace. This world is not perfect but His peace is.

How I live my faith

I love to visit the women I am called upon to visit each month. I love getting to know the person who is assigned to visit these women with me. The great part of going in pairs is that we each share different experiences and wisdom with the women we care for. I am a leader of the teenage girls in my area and we often have activities at my home where I love for them to see my family life. I grew up dreaming of a "real" family and now I can use my own to bless the lives of the young women I work with.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Irene
I have repeatedly prayed to God for answers, for miracles, for guidance, and there have always been answers, miracles, and a path laid out for me. I have seen Him work in my life for my betterment and I can't deny that. Show more Show less
