Hi I'm Trent

I'm a Mormon and have been since birth. I grew up in Idaho. I also call Michigan and Louisiana home. Retired.

About Me

I grew up in Idaho. Lived 28 years in Michigan and recently moved to Louisiana. Been married to my wife Arlene for 44 years. We have 4 children and 6 grandchildren. I'm a retired banker and glass contractor. We love serving in the church. 50 years ago I served a 2 1/2 year mission in Argentina. What a joy and blessing we had to serve in Central America at the San Salvador El Salvador Temple and how fun to relearn Spanish. I love to golf, tease my grandkids, visit with people and neighbors, and do family research. I am a college football fan with loyalties to BYU, University of Michigan, Boise State Broncos, and will quickly become an LSU fan now that we live in Louisiana.

Why I am a Mormon

I love this church. It gives so much to enrich my life. First I love how it emphasizes family. We are crazy about our family and though we are scattered all over the country we love it when we can get together and visit, watch movies, and cook great food, and always just playing with the grandkids. Second I love working in the church. You would think that the time spent would be a great sacrifice. For me the church has always given back much more in terms of spiritual enlightenment, learning the ways of the Lord, and rubbing shoulders with great and good people.

How I live my faith

Religious activity has always been important in my life. When I was 5 my parents gave us a choice one Sunday afternoon to go on a picnic or go back to church for the evening meeting (its different now). I chose church. It helped that the girls that sat behind us always shared their BlackJack (licorice) gum. I've been an active leader in the church since my mission having served as bishop, stake president, and in a temple presidency, scout master, high priest group leader, and currently as a ward mission leader. I love working with people and I especially love the friends I have in and out of the church. In the church we help people. The biggest project we ever took on was to put in a sprinkler system for a wonderful widow lady member of our church. She was so pleased not to have to drag a hose around to keep her yard watered. And the youth involved got to learn about plumbing and digging trenches and eating fresh strawberry ice cream as a reward.
