Hi I'm Teresa

I'm a full-time sister missionary serving in the Philippines. I'm a writer and an avid reader. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am nineteen years old and just graduated from high school. I play the piano, love to read and write, and love to sleep. After my mission I plan to attend Utah State University and major in English, minoring in Editing. I would love to work at a publishing company! First and foremost, though, I look forward to being a mother and a wife and serving in the church.

Why I am a Mormon

It is hard to put into words how much the church and the gospel of Jesus Christ mean to me. I have had many experiences in my life that reiterate to me the truth of the church. One such experience happened when I was talking to a Muslim friend about some of my beliefs. I was explaining how Christ came down to earth to suffer for our sins and to be resurrected to bridge the laws of justice and mercy and so that we can be resurrected and live with Heavenly Father again. Even though it didn't make much sense to her, as I talked about it I felt the Spirit so strongly and I knew that what I was testifying of was true. I know that the church is true and that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and was translated by the Prophet Joseph Smith. I know that Christ lives and loves me and died for me.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by choosing to serve a full-time mission! I have been called to serve as a missionary for the church in the Philippines Cebu East Mission. I have been serving since August of 2013. It has been an incredible experience for me to learn to love a people of a different culture and to learn their language - Cebuano. It has been hard but so rewarding. All I can say is that I know this is true - I know that what I'm doing is the Lord's work. I get to help people improve their lives and come closer to Christ. It's the best thing I've ever done - I will remember my mission for the rest of my life.

What do Mormons believe happens to us after we die? What do Mormons believe about life after death?

Teresa
There is a life after death - everyone will continue to grow and progress in the next life. We believe that we will take with us all that we have learned and experienced; we will retain our personalities and the desires of our hearts. Where we will go depends on our works and the desires of our hearts on this earth. We believe that those who followed Christ and obeyed his commandments will live in Spirit Paradise, and those who did not have a chance to receive the gospel or were disobedient will live in Spirit Prison. But this isn't the end! We believe that God loves us so much that he will give EVERYONE the chance to hear the gospel - if not in this life than in the next. Missionary work will continue in Spirit Prison until every soul has had the chance to accept the gospel and live in Spirit Paradise. Because Christ was resurrected, he became the "first fruits of them that slept," meaning that we will also be resurrected. Our bodies and spirits will be reunited. We will have immortal, perfect bodies - and have the ability to live for eternity with God and our families. Show more Show less
