Hi I'm Lisa

I grew up in Utah. I love to create & grow. I am a missionary of the Lord in the California Racho Cucamonga mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Two words that describe me? "Pale" and "red". There are many other words that also describe me, but as I am currently in the hot sun in Southern California, those are two of the more prevalent descriptions at this time. It's a sore subject, and it's called "sunburn". Okay I'll be serious now. As a person, I have many many interests! I enjoy reading, singing/music, drawing, crocheting, knitting, watching movies, playing video games, hiking, and writing. I find it fascinating to be able to make things, especially when those things are useful for stuff. Because of this, I love to learn (especially how to make things or how they work), and I would probably take as many random college classes as I could just to be able to know cool things and how to do cool things! I also like astronomy, math, and science, thanks to my dad, who often has to help me understand the math. I think math and science are amazing, because they are part of how God created what he did, and studying them helps us understand how the things that God made work! I am the youngest in a fairly large family, and I was born and raised in Utah. I love my family. I also really love the mountains, and I tend to feel really weird and unbalanced when there's no mountains in sight! I love to make people laugh, even though my jokes are usually pretty silly as you can probably tell... I love my Lord. Following Him is part of who I am as well.

Why I am a Mormon

One of my very favorite scriptures is John 7:17, which states "If any man will do his (God's) will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself." This is a promise that Christ made, that if you study and pray with a sincere desire to understand if something is true and is of God, then the truth will be manifest to you. This scripture is so amazing to me because when you think about it, something that is untrue cannot stand against the harsh light of scrutiny study by which a real seeker of truth will judge. I am a mormon because I have studied these things. REALLY studied them, and moreover prayed about them. I know these things are true, wholly and completely; I have received a witness of these things through the comforter, or the Holy Ghost. Because of my own personal study and prayer, I have received a confirmation of the truth of what has been taught to me by my loving family members and the rest of the church since childhood. I feel the spirit every time I teach about my Savior and what He has done for me. I am exited when I think of how the Lord has provided a way for me to live happily with my family for eternity.

How I live my faith

I live my faith and show my love for my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ by serving Him in the California Rancho Cucamonga Mission. I am out here to serve the people in this area, and to teach them about the love of Christ and the truth of the restored gospel through the power of the spirit of the Lord. As a missionary, I show my love for, and my commitment to the Lord by giving 18 months of my life in full time service, so that His beloved children have the chance to learn about their divine nature and their purpose here on this earth. It is His will, His work, His glory, and my privilege to be a part of it. .... I won't say it's easy! I have always been a little more timid, kept to myself oftentimes, and so learning to reach out and give of myself is often a scary thing. But the Lord has blessed me more than I can tell. As I keep trying, as I pray and work and trust in Him, I can feel His love and encouragement through the Gift of the Holy Ghost that I have: the Comforter that Christ promised to send to His disciples, and that all members of the church have the opportunity to receive by the laying on of hands and the power and authority of the Priesthood of God. Christ said "I will not leave you comfortless, I will come to you." (John 14:18) As a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I am a servant and representative of Christ. Missionary work to me is a sign of the love and mercy of my Lord and my God. That is why I am here.

What do Mormons believe about “eternal life?”

God is our Father in Heaven. His greatest desire is for us to be able to return to his presence and live with him. In the New Testament, John 3:16 says: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." The concept of eternal or "everlasting" life may seem similar to immortality, there is a distinct difference between the two. While immortality denotes an inability to die, eternal life is living forever WITH God. Our Father in Heaven and his son Jesus Christ wish for us to strive to live worthy of living in their presence, so that we can have a fullness of joy, true joy, forever. This is the purpose of the work of the church, to give everyone and their families the chance to return to the presence of God. Show more Show less
