Hi I'm Christie Wilcox

I love learning about people. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love the sunshine, daffodils, and American Bison. Yellowstone National Park is my favorite place in the world. I love to travel (I've been to Turkey, Greece, Italy, Switzerland, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean). I love learning about people who are different from me. I love doing things that take me places with people I love, like riding bikes or long road trips. I love the family that supports and encourages me.

Why I am a Mormon

As a youth I didn't really see a choice in the matter. My parents and siblings were members of the church, my friends were members of the church, I attended church and seminary because that was expected of me. I thought it all just happened to me, that I just did what I was 'supposed' to do. Since then I have realized that I had made a choice. Or, in better terms, I had made a lot of choices. I chose to follow the examples of my parents. I chose friends who I had fun with and who influenced me in a positive way. I chose to attend church every Sunday. I chose to attend seminary every day in high school. I chose to not do drugs or drink alcohol. I chose to not look at pornography. I am the sum total of all my choices and all my experiences. My testimony is the result of prayer and study and the testing of gospel principles in my life. I know Joseph Smith was a prophet of God because I have studied his life. I know that he saw God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. I know that the Book of Mormon is truly the word of God because I have read it, prayed about it, and received an answer that it is His word. I have a testimony of the Atonement of Jesus Christ because it has worked in my life after I have made the wrong choices. I know that God loves me because I have looked for and found His influence in my life. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the most true church on this Earth because it gives my life a purpose and adherence to its principles has brought me closer to God the Father and His Son.

How I live my faith

I have been a member of the church my entire life. My parents taught me the principles of the gospel in our home but when I started living on my own, I discovered what living the gospel truly means to me. I am choosing to be happy by living the principles of the gospel. By testing those principles out in my own life I am learning that the commandments were given to make men and women happy. I have had callings in the church that challenged me. At first I was nervous about teaching the gospel to people who I thought were much more knowledgable than I. But I realized that we all have things to learn, and the best way to do that is with the Spirit of God in the room.
