Hi I'm Debbie

I love books, the mountains, grits, and the sound of my family's laughter. I am a stay-at-home mom and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mom and a wife. I believe these are the best and most important jobs a woman can have. The 23 years I've spent at home with my family is time well spent. I do not regret the decision I made years ago to not work outside the home. Working moms are also full time moms and I respect the hard decisions they have to make to balance the demands of work and family. I am very blessed that I have the choice. I love being present when my children arrived home from school, ready to talk and tell me about their joys and concerns. Time with my children is short and I intend to make the most of it. They will be grown and gone soon enough!

Why I am a Mormon

I became a Mormon when I was 14. When I learned that a 14 year old boy prayed to know for himself which church he should join, I realized that I could also pray to a loving Heavenly Father and receive answers to my own prayers. I did not understand many things about this religion when I decided to be baptized. I did understand that Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ loved me and provided a way for me to be with them and my family forever. As I lived the commandments and was honest with myself and to the promises I made at baptism, I learned that this church is Jesus' church. I know this is the same church that existed anciently and was restored in it's fulness through Joseph Smith. The Book of Mormon is a true record. I know this because I have lived according to the principles and doctrines taught, I have prayed and asked to know for myself and have had the Holy Ghost tell me in quiet ways that this is so.

How I live my faith

I strive to live by following my Savior's example. I have promised to be a witness of Jesus Christ by loving and serving others. I do this each week at church by teaching lessons, serving children and welcoming all who come to worship. I meet so many wonderful people as I make time to stay in my childrens' circles of influence. Volunteering in classrooms and in athletic programs are ways I am able to share my talents and make my neighborhood and community safe and happy. Providing a safe environment for learning and play are top priorities for me as a parent. Children and teens need wholesome activities and trustworthy adults.
