Hi I'm Alohi

I was born and raised in Hawaii. I'm a student at BYU-Idaho and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Lets see, about me.... I am a sophomore in college. I enjoy hiking, running, boogie and body boarding, snorkeling, swimming, snowmobiling, occasionally cooking, sand-ball fights, photography, astronomy and road tripping whether with family or friends or by myself. Someday I want to go to Antarctica and I also want to swim in every ocean. I love animals, especially dogs, cats and horses. I am an auntie, a daughter, a granddaughter, a niece, a cousin, the baby sister and the babysitter. I'm interested in knowing languages and anything about other cultures I don't know of. I love music of all sorts, ranging from R&B to Opera and Korean pop to alternative. I play the piano, clarinet, ukulele and guitar and I sing. And I'm not short, I am fun-sized.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because I believe Christ lived, preached, taught, healed, died and was resurrected so all of us could live again. I'm a member because I feel the Holy Spirit directing me, guiding me here. I'm a Mormon. Here is where my Father in Heaven wants me to be, this is the path He has laid out before me. God's direction is so clear, hard to do as a general rule, but clear to see. Here, I feel peace; I feel direction. Being a Mormon helps me realize that I can and should always strive towards being a better person because I am a daughter of God. He created me, along with everything else. He loves me and wants to see me happy. Being a Mormon helps me live my life so that I know my Heavenly Father is happy with me, and when I know that, I am truly happy, in a way that's hard to describe. I am a Mormon, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and all of these are only some of my reasons why I am.

How I live my faith

Right now, I live my faith by preparing to serve a mission for my church in which I will dedicate all my time for 18 months to sharing my faith. To prepare I am learning another language, studying scriptures daily, attending church every week and participating in other church activities during the week. Just this past Tuesday, I went to the youth group meeting to encourage the youth, give them uplifting advice, and just spend quality time with them. In the past I have also helped with many community clean-ups and more personal service projects, such as clearing and cleaning yards and Christmas caroling. As a youth I helped in organizing activities such as carnivals, service projects, camp outs, game nights, and dances. Another thing I did was to wake up early in the morning, between 5:30 and 6, to attend an early morning church class, which we call seminary.
