Hi I'm Brandon Tovar

I grew up in Mexico. I'm currently a full time missionary. Soccer and music are my hobbies. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up playing soccer an video games with my family and especially with my friends, they taught me good values and they are my second family. Later on I got into music, especially electronic music like house and trance. Music inspires me to act and I know it influences people for good or for bad. Working with computers and electronic devices is what I enjoy the most although my desire is to get into business management eventually.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I grew up as a member of the church, I gained my own testimony of the Church and of the Gospel of Jesus Christ when I was in high school, when I lived with roommates that had the same beliefs but the same challenges at the same time. Together we learned from our own experiences and from others experiences and we saw the blessings that came from keeping the commandments of God, eventually it became a way of life. I love being a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I've been active as a member of the church my whole life and what kept me active was soccer nights in the parking lot of the church. I've been always surrounded by members of the church such as family and friends but I grew up around people with different beliefs as well. I haven't been fully involved in events for the church but I expect to get involve eventually.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Brandon Tovar
The Book of Mormon was written by inspired prophets of God just as the Bible; it is a record of the ministry of Jesus Christ among the Nephites in the Americas, after His resurrection, just as His ministry recorded in the Bible among the Jews before His resurrection. Eventually, it was translated into English through the Prophet Joseph Smith by the power of God (priesthood), just as the Bible was translated into English by William Tyndale, him not being a prophet of God but somehow inspired to do so. The Book of Mormon contains stories of different groups of people, from which we can learn words of wisdom, but especially is another testimony, after the Bible, of the Divinity of Jesus Christ as our Savior and Redeemer of the World. The way to get to know if the Book of Mormon is true is by doing what the prophet Moroni counsels, we have to read it first, then to ponder in our hearts the message it contains, and finally we have to pray and ask God if it is true and then we will receive a confirmation by the power of the Holy Ghost if we do so with faith and real intent. By doing so, we can get to know that the Bible and the Book of Mormon are sacred scripture inspired by God and are for our benefit. Show more Show less

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Brandon Tovar
A restoration was needed because the Priesthood, or the power of God to perform ordinances such as baptism and confirmation, which was given to the Twelve Apostles of Jesus Christ, was taken away when people fell into apostasy and changed the essential ordinances of salvation and pure and simple doctrines that Christ taught. A restoration was needed, and not just a reformation, we needed to bring back the same Priesthood in the way Jesus Christ gave it to His Apostles, by the laying on of hands, and that took place when Joseph Smith received that authority from Peter, James, and John, the same apostles that Christ called in his own time. We know that a great apostasy was prophesied by ancient prophets and that now we have the opportunity to partake of God's blessings through the Restoration of the Gospel that was done through the Prophet Joseph Smith.
