Hi I'm Spencer

I grew up in California, I enjoy a adrenaline rush, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy anything that gives me an adrenaline rush. If I see a black diamond run (hardest course marker) I go for it. I am an outdoor person. I ride dirt bikes, snowboard, skydiving, wrestle, ran xc and track, play soccer, occasionally wakeboard or go tubing with friends, and anything that comes up. I am an Eagle Scout and hope to put skills to work in the mission field. My dream job after my mission is Air Force Pararescue so that others may live.

Why I am a Mormon

There is nothing else I would rather be. From being Mormon I have learned to be humble for what I have. When I have a hard thing in my life I know I can pray for help and I will receive help. When it feels like no one can understand I know my savior Jesus Christ does. I know who I am and because of my knowledge of life I have set higher standards for myself. Instead of doing drugs or getting in trouble I go and enjoy the things I can think of to do that is appropriate. I know what things I would like to accomplish in life and although I can see how much work there is to do I am ready to work and excited. I know who I am and I would not trade that for anything.

How I live my faith

At my first high school I was the the only Mormon Freshman. It made things pretty hard. Well at first it was. People did not understand my views and often made fun of my religion and cracked jokes. It made things hard but I continued to make the right choices. I ended up moving. I had no idea the effect I had. I learned that two people I knew decided to get baptized. It was great to hear. During my last year of High School I was called to a leadership position for the youth group I am in. It was a great experience and I have friends that I can always rely on. I am now called to be a missionary (1 month after my graduation) and I will be leaving to L'viv Ukraine, Ukrainian speaking in September. I will have hard times with the language and other things but I know that the Lord will bless me to accomplish what needs to be done.

To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?

When people first find out I am Mormon there is a step process. step 1: Pause with huge eyes and I know they have a million things rushing through their head step 2: Do you know so and so? step 3: I can tell you are Mormon because you don't..... step 4: They have a question or multiple questions about the church and what my beliefs are. The church is peculiar. Many people wonder why we are happy and what the truth is. Through missionary work and a good example we share the truth about Jesus Christ. After testifying of what we know many others look for themselves and find the same truth. After prayer and reading the Book of Mormon they often join the church because they know the church is true. Are Mormons Christians?

People ask me this all the time and sometimes people do not link the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to Mormon. We study Jesus Christ all the time and study both the Bible and the Book of Mormon: Another testament of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
