Do you want to chat with a missionary?

We are happy to answer any questions you may have.

Hi I'm Jonathan Nine

I am born and raised a Texan. I am serving a 2-year mission for my church in Bakersfield, CA. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

After waiting, dreaming, and preparing I'm finally a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for the next two years! I was homeschooled through high school, and attended college one year until my mission. My hobbies include guitars, girls, serving others, good food, good movies, and basketball. After my mission I plan to finish college and start my career, marry, start a family, and continue helping others come unto Christ. I love the Lord, my family, my friends, and life! Life is good!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in to the Church, and chose to get baptized when I was 8 yrs old. At first I was just following in my parents' footsteps, but in 2011 the Church held a regional Jubilee Event, similar to an Olympic Opening Ceremony Event. In this event we sang, danced, performed, and had a swell time! During the course of the 3-day event, including the several months of practice before hand, I came to an understanding of the Gospel, the love that Christ has for me, and the Spirit's confirmation to me that Joseph Smith, the boy prophet, the Book of Mormon, which he translated, and the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which Joseph was key in bringing to pass, are all true. My heart was filled with love, and there is no doubt in my mind or heart of the truthfulness of this Gospel that is found in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I believe all churches have good to them, and part of the true Gospel of Jesus Christ, but I know that this church does contain the fullness of that Gospel. I want to invite others to taste of the joy that this has brought me, and I invite them to come and see if we can't add more to their understanding of and relationship to Christ, our Savior.

How I live my faith

I LOVE TO SERVE!!! I've done it all my life! Along with making people smile/laugh, it's my favorite thing to do! Example of my service are things like mowing people's lawns, roofing houses, moving furniture, helping them move from one house to another, indoor painting, chainsawing, HAM radio operator, helping with bad weather relief efforts, and all other masculine-service! :) In Church I am the Young Single Adult (YSA, ages 18-29) Representative, meaning that I help keep our YSA in our Ward (our local congregation) updated and informed about all the activities happening in the area in regard to the YSA. I use service to show my love for those around me and for my Heavenly Father. It is something that I do well, so I try to use it to His glory.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Jonathan Nine
YES! As a Mormon and Christian I believe in the Bible, I know it to be the word of God, ("as far as it is translated correctly") and I love and follow it's teachings accordingly. My faith in the Book of Mormon has also grown as I have read it, taught from it, and learned from it. I believe that the Book of Mormon AND the Bible are both Testimonies of God my Heavenly Father, His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost. They go hand in hand, support each other both spiritually and content-wise, and fulfill one another in the doctrine of the Gospel. They mutually testify of each other. I encourage everyone to read the the Bible AND the Book of Mormon TOGETHER and use them to learn from each other and to find truer meaning and fulfillment in life. Show more Show less
