Hi I'm Gordon

I grew up in Texas and Minnesota. I am going to serve a mission in the north Florida area. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I recently graduated from high school, and have deferred my admission to Stanford University in order to serve a mission. I am interested in the social sciences, especially history, economics, and psychology, and plan on majoring in one of these subjects when I return from my mission. I enjoy reading everything from fantasy to physics, and I am a singer as well.

Why I am a Mormon

My testimony of the truth of the gospel has come gradually. I can't point to a single experience that "converted" me, but rather a collection of consistent, but powerful witnesses of my faith. These spiritual confirmations come as I sincerely pray to my Heavenly Father and read His teachings in the scriptures. They come when I "stand in holy places" such as when I worship in church or serve others. They come when I use the power of Jesus Christ's atonement to repent, change, and become a better person. Through these experiences I have come to know that the Church is true, and I have become a better person as I have followed its teachings. I am excited to share the invitation to "come unto Christ and be perfected in Him" (Moroni 10:32) as I serve a mission. I know that as we do so, we will find happiness in this life and beyond.

How I live my faith

I visit several families in my congregation each month with a companion to share a gospel message and offer them any service they need. I also go out with our local missionaries every several weeks to teach with them and give service to the community. We recently had the opportunity to help move furniture back into a friend's basement after it was flooded. I'm excited to soon serve my own mission in north Florida, where I will teach in both English and Spanish.
