Hi I'm Helena

I'm majoring in Family Studies with plans to master in social work. I want to be a stay-at-home mom. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a very outgoing person and especially love to help people. I'm a senior in college, majoring in Family Studies. Eventually, I will get my masters in social work so that I can work to strengthen families in the community. My experience with internships and volunteer service in the social work field has given me confidence in this decision. I hope to be a stay-at-home mom and work once my children are grown. My biggest hobby is playing the guitar and singing. I also love crafts, cooking, fashion and interior design. I could say I'm outdoorsy and like to read but let's not kid ourselves. I'll read a Martha Stewart catalog...maybe in the backyard hammock.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints teaches the most correct principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that the Book of Mormon is true scripture and has more power to draw its reader closer to Christ and feel of His love than any other book. I know this because I have read it and prayed to know if it was true. Through simple feelings of peace and happiness--feelings from the Holy Ghost--I know it is true. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet and through God's help translated the Book of Mormon. I know that there is a prophet today who continues to guide us and show us the path that Christ would have us take. I testify that God sent his son Jesus Christ to come to this earth and atone for our sins. He loves every individual more than we could possibly comprehend and if we simply turn to him, repent of our sins and endure to the end, we can find pure happiness. This gospel brings peace to my life and I can't imagine living without it. It is my source of true joy.

How I live my faith

Being a Mormon is huge part of my life. I have the opportunity to attend church every Sunday and participate in the services by accepting speaking assignments, teaching lessons, etc. I join other members in serving in the community with various service opportunities and humanitarian aid projects. However, I not only live my faith through activities like this, but also through my day to day decisions. I choose to be the best person I can be and always stay close to Heavenly Father. I pray, I read my scriptures and I choose the right. I want to share the truthfulness of this gospel with everyone I can. Soon I will leave to serve a mission in Sao Paulo, Brazil where I will be able to share my faith with others.
