Hi I'm Beth

I'm an osteopath. I'm a mom. I'm moving to Alaska. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I dreamed of being a doctor when I was young. I also dreamed of being a mom, but wondered how would a woman doctor raise a family? I followed through on premed classes and was in the process of applying for medical school when The Lord changed my plans. I ended up being converted to the church, committing to serve a mission, working for an LDS woman osteopath, and after nearly six years off school, began the process of becoming a physician. I am currently 5 years out of residency and getting ready to move my family to Alaska to repay my student loans.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the church when I was 19, after many years of associating with family members who were already baptized. I watched and saw a lot of change in these people, but more importantly, I felt the influence of the Holy Ghost regularly. I left for college at17 and soon was living my own life, on my own terms, which were not conductive to feeling the holy spirit. I felt something was missing. I felt lost and I began to question what that could possibly be missing? Some serious soul searching, a challenging organic chemistry class, and a priesthood blessing from my older sisters home teacher, lead me to my answer. I was baptized 3 weeks later. In retrospect, I was prepared throughout the many years of watching and feeling and listening for the moment when I was humble enough to listen with all my heart to the spiritual facet of this life, and not just that the world had to offer.

How I live my faith

I work hard- professionally and personally. Like in genesis it says ,"by the sweat of thy brow thou shalt eat thy bread all the days of thy life." I tend to be perfectionistic and driven, but the teachings of jesus christ remind me to slow down and find the sweet moments in life. I find personal refreshment and renewal in reading the scriptures personally and as a family. I also find greater purpose to my " working mom life" through personal prayer. I am recharged spiritually each Sunday by going to church and fellow shipping. I then feel ready to take on another week of work and family.
