Hi I'm John

I grew up in California. I played professional baseball. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

When I was 16 years old, my father died unexpectedly. I was raised by a terrific mom, family, and exceptional coaches. My father coached me all throughout my younger years. I was an exceptional athlete that was recruited by many colleges and played two Division 1 sports in college. After college, I played minor league baseball for 3 years before a career-ending injury. After my playing days were over, I searched for many years to find the answers to two of my spiritual questions: If Jesus Christ had Apostles with Him while on the earth, why wouldn't we need them today; and, why don't churches teach and demand that we follow all the Ten Commandments. I found those answers, and many others, as I attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was taught by the missionaries. Today, I am a husband and father of 5 children. I am very successful, not because of what some would say as a successful business career, but because of my balance between work, family, and faith. It's important to be a provider and a valuable employee, but that will never replace success in the home. Families live forever, careers don't.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that the Savior is at the head of His church on earth. I also know where I came from, why I'm here on earth, and where I am going. My wife and I lost a baby at birth. Because of the Atonement and teachings of Jesus Christ, I know we will be together again. I continue to live my faith and follow the teachings of Jesus Christ for one reason. It's True! We read about many people in the Bible who saw the face of God. I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ also appeared to the boy Joseph Smith. Jesus Christ needed to restore the 'power' that was on the earth while he was on the earth. That same 'power' was restored through Jesus Christ and His Apostles to Joseph Smith and continues to be on the earth today. We have Apostles and Prophets on the earth today, just like before Christ was on the earth and while he was on the earth. I strive to keep all of the commandments and have promised to do all I can to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. I do this because of that one reason - It's True!

How I live my faith

I heard someone say the following, "If you were on trial for being a good Christian and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, would there be enough evidence to convict you." I try everyday to provide the necessary evidence to convict me. I volunteer my time to keep our congregation organized. More importantly, I do my best to get to know everyone and make the new people and families comfortable.
