Hi I'm Kiera

I grew up in Alaska. I love being outdoors and exploring the world around me. I am a mormon.

About Me

I am studying marketing and art at college and just completed my freshman year. Now I am taking an eighteen month hiatus to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Brazil. I love being outdoors. Hiking, biking, rafting, and exploring are some of my favorite things to do. I also love to paint landscapes and be creative. I love the world around me and seeing what it has to offer.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a Mormon. For this reason, I was taught to follow a certain set of standards which were supposed to protect me and make me happy. When I was younger I did this because it was how I was raised. As I have gotten older, I have had to rethink why I do what I do. I can honestly say that I am a Mormon because I personally know it is right, and true, and good. I would be lost without the gospel of Jesus Christ. Life is hard. It is full of hurt, pain, and anguish. It is a messy ordeal that at times can be hard to explain. I don't know where I would be without the knowledge that I am here for a reason and that I am loved by God. I can't explain everything that goes on in this world but I know someone who can and he is my Heavenly Father. This religion requires our complete faith and trust, but if we can give that then God will give us so much more. This gospel truly is about making each of us better. No matter where we have come from, what we have done, or what has happened to us, we can all work toward the same eternal goal of everlasting happiness. This is why I am a Mormon. Nothing else can fill me up the way this gospel can. It adds another dimension to my life. Without this religion, my life would seem so meaningless but the knowledge of my eternal purpose adds the color and vibrancy and purpose that nothing else can. I am a Mormon because I know this is the true church restored to the Earth. I have a testimony in my Savior and his atoning sacrifice. I am a Mormon because I know it is true.

How I live my faith

My faith is everything to me. It defines the decisions I make everyday. It gives me the comfort and reassurance I need to persevere no matter what life seems to throw at me. I have been a member of the LDS church for my entire life and am so thankful for the blessings it provides me. This gospel truly does make me happy. I wouldn't be taking an 18 month break from the rest of my life in these pivotal years if it didn't mean so much to me. I want others to feel the peace and reassurance that comes through the gospel of Jesus Christ. To me, this is what life is all about--trying to grow and develop and become through the Savior of us all. I live my faith by working each day to grow as a person. I am by no means perfect, but I do try to follow Christ. I live my faith by being happy and accepting my role as a daughter of God. I live it by enjoying the beauty of the world around me. I live it by making meaningful relationships with other children of God. I live my faith by trusting in the God of us all.
