Hi I'm Kathie

I grew up in Reno, NV, have 5 children, 16 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

This is not easy; I have a lot of interests and have had a lot of occupations. I love being a mother and grandmother! My favorite hobby has been remodeling houses, but the one I live in now is my last one - I'm getting too old to enjoy so much physical activity any more. My favorite occupation was telephone installer/repairman; I enjoyed meeting people of all walks of life and nationalities, I enjoyed the challenge mentally, and I enjoyed the physical activity. I have enjoyed flying (single-engine fixed wing), cooking, sewing, woodworking, upholstery, beautician, sales of various products, various types of needlework, gardening, and reading. I enjoy learning. I can do house wiring of any type (electrical, telephone, speaker, and cable), framing, sheetrock, plumbing (I can but don't enjoy plumbing), flooring of different types, and painting. I have enjoyed many sports, especially water skiing, when I was younger. I still enjoy physical activity but find I can't do as much or as fast as I used to. I don't mean to complain about age and I would not trade my experience and knowledge for a pain-free body if I could. I do enjoy life!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Church but have not always been active. I have learned the hard way that the ONLY way to happiness is through knowledge of and obedience to the Lord's commandments. It took some time for me to develop a strong testimony of the truths contained in the gospel. I don't know that I could be happier than I am right now, but I know I could have enjoyed this happiness for much more of my life if I had chosen to follow Jesus Christ sooner. I know that Jesus Christ is the son of our Heavenly Father, that He is the creator of this earth, that He died to atone for our sins, that He was resurrected and that we will all be resurrected with Him, and that He is the head of this church. It really is "The Church of Jesus Christ" of Latter-Day-Saints. I know that our Heavenly Father loves each of us, wants to forgive us of any past sins or transgressions, and has a great desire to help us return to His presence to live in joy with Him forever. I know that Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, want nothing more than for us to be happy now and forever. There are many religions to choose from; I know this one contains ALL truth. I know that there is a living prophet (President Thomas S. Monson) today to guide and help the entire world, and that President Monson, his counselors and the twelve apostles are all prophets, seers, and revelators. I know that The Book of Mormon is true (written by prophets of old) and that Joseph Smith did see the Father and the Son, and that he translated the Book Of Mormon with divine help. I know the power and authority to act in the name of Jesus Christ is on the earth now and can only be obtained through the laying on of hands by a worthy Priesthood member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints. I am happier now than I have ever been before and I know this comes from knowing and obeying my Savior. I am truly grateful to have the gospel in my life. I am a Mormon because it is the way to truth and happiness.

How I live my faith

Currently, I'm teaching the sweetest and cutest group of 4-year-olds in Primary (Sunday School), and preparing to serve a mission in San Juan Puerto Rico for 18 months. I have worked with various organizations (children, teenagers, women) within the church and have loved every one of them. I love being with people and want to share what I know to help others attain happiness in this life and an eternal life with our Heavenly Father. I find that each commandment I obey brings me more peace and more joy. I would like to encourage all who are investigating the church or are members but not active to "test" the gospel - give it a try and you will learn the truth. I can promise you that the law of tithing is from our Father in Heaven and was given as a way to bless each of His children. If you pay an honest 10%, He really will "open the windows of Heaven and pour out blessings that you have not room enough to receive them". If you live by the health guidelines of the church, The Word of Wisdom, you will be blessed with strength of body and mind. If you have questions about this earth, religion, if there was a previous life, your purpose here on earth, what happens next, or even if there is a God, pray with sincerity and faith and you WILL receive an answer. Heavenly Father is the spiritual Father of all of us - we really are His children, He loves us more than we can comprehend and He will answer your prayers! Your answers may not always come in the way you expect or when you expect, but you will always receive answers.

Are Mormons Christians?

Kathie
I have talked with people who thought that Christians were the same as protestants (those who protested against some of the Catholic beliefs) - I want to let everyone know that to me, Christians are people who believe in Jesus Christ and believe that He is our Savior. As a Mormon, I am a Christian. I know that Christ is the head of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints - it really is His Church in every way. It is modeled after the Church that Christ established when He was here on the earth because it is again, Christ, who established and restored the church. Christ has again called a prophet, apostles (12, the same as in His day), teachers, priests, and so on. I know that Jesus Christ lives and that He truly does personally direct his church through the prophet and apostles. Show more Show less
