Hi I'm Angela

I grew up in California. I am a college student, a convert, and a future missionary. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been a member for a year and a half and am currently preparing to serve in the Utah Salt Lake City Mission, I will be reporting to the MTC October 9th!!! I am proud to say I will be the first in my family to serve a mission. At first I struggled with the idea of serving a mission in the middle of everything but a good friend once told me, "if it is true, what else matters?" My family, and friends mean everything to me but, I also know that there is someone out there just like me waiting to find the gospel and apply to their lives whether they are aware of it or not, but that person means more to me than anything I could do in the next 18 months, and yes, that even means sacrificing college, boys, and the family and friends I care so deeply about. One of my favorite scriptures as I prepare for a mission is actually from Mathew it states, "For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it" (Mathew 16:25) In the next 18 months I'll be finding my life, as I lose myself in the work.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized in to the church at the age of 18, the day before my 19th birthday, and I can honestly say that it has been the best choice I have ever made in my life. It wasn't until I found this church that I really understood what it meant to be a daughter of my heavenly father, or really what his atoning sacrifice meant for me personally in my life. This gospel truly has been a blessing to me and my family, even though I am the only active member. There is just a love, and happiness found here that I have never felt in my life, and in many ways is unexplainable till you experience it your own life. Becoming a member of this church is more than a choice you make, it is a way of life and to truly live by its principles you have to truly have a change of heart that is only felt through the sincere conversion to Jesus Christ. I know without a shadow of a doubt that this church is true, and I can honestly testify to the truth and divinity of the Book of Mormon because I have experienced the change it has made in my own life and the change it will continue to make as long as I live. I promise you that if you are a member, or investigator the words that are found in this book will not only change your life, but they will guide you through any challenge you may face, that as a member you are never alone, and you have a heavenly father who knows and loves you more than and anything, and he is waiting for you to come home. No matter where you came from, what you have done in the past or where you are going his love for you is just the same today, yesterday, and forever. This gospel truly is everything to me, and although I have faced some of biggest challenges in this last year and a half I am comforted knowing I am a disciple of Christ, and as long as I do my best to follow that example, and tread in his footsteps I will never be alone. I stay with this gospel, because the happiness it brings in my life is more happiness than I could ever find anywhere else.

How I live my faith

In my ward I use to be in charge of the Missionary Meal Calendar which pretty much means I had the best job in the ward because I had the opportunity to be around some of the best guys, and learn from their example before I go on a mission myself. Honestly every calling in the church is amazing because our greatest joy is found in the service of others no matter what title you are given in the church you will find that even the smallest job can bring you the most happiness, because you are there because God wants you to preform that task, and learn some lesson. I never would have dreamed that I would learn the things I have, or developed the love I have for not only my ward, but people in general. Through small and simple things, great things come to pass.

What is faith?

To have faith is to "hope for things which are not seen, which are true" When we have, faith we have hope in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and we yearn for his presence or to be near him. In the Book of Mormon, in Alma we refer to faith as a seed because just like any other seed if it is watered, and nourished it grows ( Alma 32:28-43). When we have faith in our savior we trust him with all our heart, might, mind, and soul and allow God to carry our burdens. To have faith in our lord and to apply it to our lives it to show it not by our words, but by our actions. Because "faith without works is dead" When we have faith we act in a Christ-like manner and keep the commandments God have given us walking uprightly before the Lord. We love deeply, forgive easily, and trust wholeheartedly that if we follow his principles God will be our comforter in times of need. It is east to have faith when times, are easy it is when times are hard and we are tested that we truly understand what it means to have unwavering faith . We can't change the winds but we can direct the sail. Show more Show less
