Hi I'm Elder Trevor Burton

I am the first child in family to serve a mission. I love playing any and every kind of sport. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have received my Eagle Scout in Boy Scouts of America. I have also play tuba, a little bit of piano and love to sing (I'm not the best but practice makes perfect). I am currently serving in my reassignment, waiting for my visa (to go to Brazil) in the Pennsylvania Philadelphia Mission. I know how to speak a little bit of Portuguese and teach most of the lessons and bare my testimony in Portuguese. I have had an amazing time in my reassigned mission and will miss the people I have taught and served with.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because, not only is my family members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, my family and I live by the laws God has given to us by His living prophet, Thomas S. Monson and the laws given to us through the scriptures. By living our live in accordance with what God's Prophets and Apostles teaches us, we can have a successful life on the Earth and come closer together as an eternal family in the life after mortality.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by living as righteously as I can, by following the commandment and by living the Gospel of Jesus Christ that has been restored to the Earth once again. I live righteously so I can be more in tune with the promptings that come from the Holy Ghost. By living the Gospel of Jesus Christ, I learn how we can return to our Heavenly Father and become more like His Son, Jesus Christ.

Are Mormons Christians?

Elder Trevor Burton
Mormons believe in Jesus Christ and His teachings in The Bible. The difference that people look mostly at is the fact that we have recieved scriptures that adds to the testimony of The Bible and make The Bible easier to understand. The Book of Mormon is not to replace or add onto the Bible, it testifies of the same thing as the Bible. Some of the people don't believe that The Book of Mormon does that but I know that The Book of Mormon is another testiment of Jesus Christ because the prophets in The Book of Mormon testify of Jesus Christ and His coming to the Earth, as does The Bible. We believe everything in The Bible, as long as it is translated correctly. We belive in our Savior, Jesus Christ, who has saved us all from sins and has loosed the bands of death. Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Elder Trevor Burton
Yes, a husband and wife can live together forever. One of the amazing things that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has that can make families be together forever is the Priesthood authority to bind on Earth and to bind in heaven. The Priesthood authority of God seals (or binds) the family together as long as they keep the covenants that they make inside the temple that makes it possible for families to live together forever in heaven. If a husband and wife live and follow the covenants that they made inside the temple, they can be with each other for all time and through the eternities. Show more Show less

What is the role of the husband and the wife in the family?

Elder Trevor Burton
The role of a husband and a wife in a family is crusal for a family to remain strong. The role of a husband is to provide for his family and to protect them. The wife is to care for the family and to help every one within the home grow and to understand the importance of balance in the home. These roles are often shared by both the husband and the wife but it does not mean that if the husband or the wife does everything and the other has to follow their spouse, the husband and wife are to work in unity and are to work through diffucult times and situations. The husband and wife of a family are to work together in harmony, even if it seems that the world is going to fall on them, work things out and once through the trail, do not dwell on it, learn from it. Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

Elder Trevor Burton
The member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints are referred to as Mormons because of The Book of Mormon. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints have had this nickname for quite some time but we try not associate The Church with the name, Mormons, to describe The Lord's Church as the Mormon church. The members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints often refer to themselves either as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints or in a simpler and shorter name, Mormons.
