Hi I'm Vera

My name is Vera and I’m a Mormon. I live in Hampshire and work in a nursing home in the beautiful Surrey Hills.

About Me

My name is Vera and I’m a Mormon. I live in Hampshire and work in a nursing home in the beautiful Surrey Hills. I enjoy reading, travel, nature, going to the theater and watching Murder Mystery programs.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because, at a time when things were not great in my life, the Elders knocked on my door and asked “Would you like to be happier?”. The things they taught seemed to strike a chord as if somehow I had always known and believed them. I’ve always liked reading about different religions and their history so the Book of Mormon was interesting to read. I soon realised that this was what I had been looking for. I joined the church in 1985 and have never regretted it. I know that Jesus Christ came to earth to show us how to live in a way that allows us to feel happy with the choices we make. A young woman that we knew had lost her baby before they had time to baptise him. She was distraught believing that the baby could not go to Heaven without baptism. We were able to tell her that children under the age of eight cannot sin and need no baptism. She was full of joy to know her baby was with God.

How I live my faith

The gospel of Jesus Christ has brought me peace and happiness. I am so grateful and try to keep the commandments. I know that they are given by a loving Father in Heaven who intends them as a road map to travel safely through life.
