Hi I'm Tanner

I'm from Farmington, Utah. I raise dairy goats, write, and play guitar. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My family and I live on a small farm just about a half-hour out of Salt Lake City. There we raise Dairy Goats, but I also participated in Musicals, Debate, and Cross Country in high school. For a year before my mission I attended Brigham Young University.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the peace it gives me. I do not find commandments and laws restrictive or 'downers,' i find them freeing. I trust and have faith that God has given us a plan not to make this life more difficult, but to help us. I know that the law of Chastity has been given because it helps to solidify the relationship between a Husband and Wife, and that if we live by it we will find greater peace than we could have ever imagined before. I know that mortality is an important and necessary state because it helps us to better access Christ's atonement. How wonderful it is that we are so frail and able to quickly change, that if we bleed our body heals, that if we sin we can accept the atonement and forget, that we can change who we are. I testify the Christ's atonement is free to all. That through him we can rise from our fallen state, having gained knowledge and joy, but having sloughed off the sin and sorrow of mortality. I seal this testimony in his name, the Great Redeemer and literal Son of God, Jesus Christ. Amen.

How I live my faith

In my ward at Brigham Young University I was in charge of having a 'home evening' activity once a week for a group of about 15 students who were in my church ward. In a normal ward 'family home evening' is what takes the place of this activity, but since we lived in dorms we were organized into small groups that could be a support for each other. It was a good opportunity to get to know the other students in my ward. Although some of them didn't often attend the activity, those who didn't have as many friends seemed to enjoy the support, and if someone was having a bad or lonely week I tried to make them feel welcome. Now that I have finished my first year of school I am preparing to serve a mission. At the time I am writing this I leave in 1 week for the Scotland/Ireland Mission that I have been assigned to. My goal during the two years I will serve is to preach about the Savior's plan for families. About the pure joy that can be found in them. I live my faith by preparing to be married in the temple so that I can begin my own family that can last for time and through out all eternity. This is the message of the missionaries.
