Hi I'm Lise

I have been born and raised in Utah (USA). I am a Biology major at Southern Utah University. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have a sister and two brothers. I love to read, and I especially love fiction books aimed at young teens (Percy Jackson, Harry Potter, Kane Chronicles, 39 Clues). I am certified as a Surgical Technologist and am currently working on my Bachelor's Degree in Biology. I plan to attend med school and become a surgeon.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the LDS Church and have continued to follow its teachings because I have felt the Holy Spirit confirming to me that the things I have been taught are true. I know that this church is the true church of Jesus Christ. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, a sacred record of an ancient people, translated through the power of God by His prophet, Joseph Smith Jr. As I have grown and learned more about the world and about my faith, my relationships with my Heavenly Father and with my Savior, Jesus Christ have grown closer and closer. I know that anyone can come to know our Heavenly Father and His love for each of us, as well as our Brother, Lord, and Savior, Jesus Christ. God is the literal Father of our spirits and He loves us! He loves us so much that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, His only begotten in the physical sense, and then watched that Son suffer and die for us, His other, imperfect, children because He wants us ALL to return to Him. Jesus Christ also loves each and every one of us. He suffered and died for you and me both, but He would have done even if there were only 1 person on the Earth. They love us and they spend each day trying to help and guide us back home. I know this church is true and that the power and authority to act in God's name, His Holy Priesthood, has been restored to the Earth along with the fullness of His truth. I testify of these things, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in simple ways. I try to love others no matter what and to live as Christ would. I try to always remember that I represent Him as well as myself and my family. I was also blessed enough to be able to teach the 7/8 year-old class in my ward before going to college.

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

Lise
Our leaders and clergy are unpaid because it's a way to show the Lord that you love Him, that you trust Him, and have faith that He will guide you down the right path for you, and that you will do what He asks you to do, no matter what. We receive "callings", basically assignments within our wards that come from Heavenly Father through our Bishop and it is our choice whether or not to accept that calling, but when you truly love and trust your God and your Savior you do what they ask of you, especially when it's difficult or unpleasant or time-consuming. It's a trial of faith. Do I trust in Heavenly Father enough to have faith that He knows what's best for me? Do I love Jesus Christ enough to do what He wants me to do to help my brothers and sisters around me? Our Heavenly Father knows us better than anyone, including ourselves. He has an ETERNAL plan for us and everything He asks us to do can affect us eternally if we let it. He knows where we need to be and the best way for us to get there from where we are. He loves us and He asks us to serve Him individually because of that love that He has for us. Show more Show less
