Hi I'm Shaylee

I grew up on an Idaho potato farm. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm one of nine kids and have always loved being a part of a big family. With my family, I enjoy boating, snowmobiling, reading, and playing basketball and volleyball. I help on our family farm, especially during harvest in the fall. I have played the violin for many years and enjoy opportunities to play for others. I have enjoyed the last two years as a full-time college student. I'm looking forward to the next year and a half to serve as a missionary in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. I'm so excited to meet the people there and share with them the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a Mormon and always participated in the church activities. I always believed that the church was true and as I continued and continue still to read the scriptures, study the gospel, pray, and strive to live in harmony with Christ's teachings, my own individual testimony continues to grow. I have never really had a striking moment where I all of a sudden knew the church was true, but I have gained that knowledge as I have worked at living the gospel. I have received answers to my prayers and have felt the love of our Heavenly Father. I am so grateful for the gospel and the many blessings I have seen in my life from living it. I know that living the gospel provides a happiness that can't be found from anything else. I am grateful for the scriptures and know the Book of Mormon to be the word of God. I am so grateful for our Savior, Jesus Christ, for His example, love, and atoning sacrifice. I know that like in Bible times, the church is now led by a living prophet and Christ's church has been fully restored. I know that God knows and loves each one of us.

How I live my faith

I currently attend church services every Sunday in a singles ward near my home. I enjoy being in this ward with other young single adults. I participate in fun activities with them on Monday nights and enjoy other events with them such as meetings with special speakers or trips to the temple. As a member of my singles ward, I also participate by being a visiting teacher and visiting other girls in our ward with an assigned companion. I have had the responsibility to organize and carry out a monthly dinner for my ward as well as social gatherings every Sunday evening where we would share a spiritual thought. I enjoy being a part of the singles ward and am grateful for the friendships I have there.
