Hi I'm Avery

I grew up in Tremonton Utah, just north of Salt Lake City. I've always had my eyes set on serving a LDS mission.

About Me

Well, I just graduated high school and am planning to serve a full time mission in Taiwan. I'm just an average teenage boy who enjoys hanging out with my friends, playing sports, and just being active. I come from a family of five from Tremonton Utah, just a hour north of Salt Lake City.

Why I am a Mormon

As a young child I just followed the church because I thought it was the right thing to do and my mom seemed so invested into everything in the church, but as I got older and trials hit me I learned for myself. I got to the point where I couldn't find happiness no matter where I turned. And when I was about ready to quit, I turned to god and let him do the rest. My testimony has grown so much over the past year after going through the trials I've faced but I know that the only way that we can find true happiness is if we turn ourselves over to God and allow him bless us. I've learned that by focusing on others and forgetting about yourself will only bring you more joy. While it is hard to do at first, it's the way that all of us can be happy and enjoy life to the fullest. I know that this church is through from hours of scripture study, meaningful prayer, and experience. I love this church and I love the blessings that it brings to my life.

How I live my faith

As a young child I have always been a missionary. My dad was not a member of the church but as I prayed every night and encouraged him to come to church every week I truly believe that God softened his heart. After at least four years of this with absolutely no success he finally invited over the home teachers, and then the missionaries, and then he was baptized. Even though it was a long wait I'm glad that I was able to bring my dad to the church. I've always been involved in my church groups and tried to set an example to nineteen other boys in the quorum. Me being the oldest, I found this important to set a good example. I've been on several different missionary discussions just as a junior companion teaching these two young boys thinking of being baptized. I have taught my quorum multiple times and enjoy getting the opportunity to, it teaches me and makes me grow so much. I'm excited to start the next chapter of living my faith, and going to bring the people of Taiwan to Christ.
